Bachelor of Arts - The Evergreen State College (Modern World History)
Hello, my name is Megan and teaching is one of my greatest passions in life. I have experience teaching ESL since 2011 and have been independently tutoring since 2013. I just moved down from Seattle and I am hoping to build a client base here in the Long Beach area.
I graduated from The Evergreen State College in 2012. During my time in college, I volunteered as an assistant ESL teacher for a Catholic school in Quito, Ecuador. In this school I assisted students from kindergarten through 8th grade and this experience inspired me to begin teaching. After college, I spent time volunteering as an ESL instructor at CIELO in Olympia and Yelm where I held two beginning English classes for adult learners. In September of 2013 I moved to Medellin, Colombia, where I started independently teaching English to students from young adults to middle-aged learners and I have continued privately teaching to this day.
Most recently I held two ESL classes for Japanese exchange students during their study abroad in Seattle. Giving students the tools to succeed and accomplish their goals has been one of the most invaluable experiences of my life, and I’m hoping to use my knowledge and experience to inspire more ESL learners.
I pride myself on having a very strong and dedicated approach to my work. My extensive employment experience with communication and the service industry has aided in my ability to work with all types of people, and my teaching experience has been strengthened by the diversity of my students. I have a deep passion for teaching English as a foreign language and I would bring this enthusiasm to this position, along with excellent work ethic and attention to the students’ individual needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
