My name is Mary Lin, a graduate from UC Berkeley in the field of finance, currently preparing for my first level CFA exam. I have a passion for teaching and since high school, have been offering tutoring services to children and students of varying ages. The subjects I have taught and have been teaching are in Math, the sciences (biology and chemistry), and also varying reading and writing directions.
This is my philosophy. Education is something to be excited about, and we should be equally as passionate and as interested in the subject no matter our age. I hope to bring this excitement and enthusiasm to my students in a fun and loving way. That is not to say that I have no expectations. I expect my students to be attentive and to be genuinely interested in developing a passion for learning.
I am interested in helping you reach your fullest potential as a student. Let me help you accomplish your goals. Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have graduated from UC Berkeley with a year of calculus taken while in college. In addition, I have been tutoring in AP Calculus AB, BC, as well as Geometry and Algebra since then for the past 5 years.
I grew up speaking Chinese to both my parents and my relatives. Every summer my parents would send me to China to live with my relatives and develop my reading and writing skills in the language. In college, I pursued this interest and received a bachelor's in Chinese language and literature from the University of California Berkeley. I have tutored this language before to many students while I was in college, and believe in full immersion of the language to best learn it. My methods usually include speaking to the students in as much Chinese as possible to help them become used to listening to the language. Of course, this also depends on the level of the students.
