Cal State, Dominguez Hills (History)
University of California, Irvine (Master's)
My name is Frank C. I currently reside in the Long Beach area. I am a California credentialed Social Science teacher who has taught high school in both Irvine and Torrance, California. I have taught honors and college preparatory US history, honors and college preparatory World History, and I designed the curriculum, and taught the English Language Development Sheltered US history course at Northwood High School in Irvine. I also created the curriculum for West High's AP Human Geography course that I taught this year (2016-2017).
I have been tutoring students of all ages since 2010. I specialize in writing and proofreading papers, historical writing and research, and test preparation (AP Human Geography, Midterms, Finals, GED, etc.), but I am also qualified to teach a number of additional courses (see course list). My students enjoy working with me because I promote a friendly and safe learning environment while maintaining a high level of enthusiasm. I am highly skilled at identifying students' needs, setting objectives, and meeting deadlines.
I have a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary and Secondary Education from the University of California Irvine (3.9 GPA), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from California State University Dominguez Hills graduating with honors in the major (3.9 GPA). My Social Science Teaching Credential is on file with the State of California and is valid until 08/01/2021.

He's so energetic and passionate about the history. He's also so patient! First of all, I'm not an English native speaker, and I didn't know any American histories. I couldn't understand anything in my history class in college. But I totally could understand his lesson! He's extremely well organized, friendly and funny. If you want to get a good grade and have fun of history, take him! You won't regret!
He is a great tutor! He helped me alot with my essays and I really appreciated it! His instructions on improving my grammar mistakes are clear and helpful. I will definitely work with him in the future again! Thanks.
He is very patient, generous, and understanding. He knows what you need and he helps you until the end. Thank you so much for your help! Thank you!!!!
I enjoyed my tutoring session with Francis. He is extremely knowledgeable and well versed in many subjects. He worked with me on high level undergraduate work that many tutors may not be able to help with. I like that he was very organized and focused during our session. He helped me with the organization and clarification of a complex research paper. He also had great advice for finding primary sources that will make my paper stronger. He was willing to travel to my house and is very punctual. I will definitely work with Francis again and I recommend that you give him a try!
Mr. C was awesome. He was patient, considerate, very knowledgeable, and a really nice guy. We worked very hard on my thesis and my sources and he helped me to write a thesis that reflected my sources--the ones I already found [he even referred me to many of his own sources since he'd done work on projects like mine in the past--he knew a lot about this period in history too which was great]. Mr. C also helped me to see the paper in a way I couldn't see it before, and once I could see the whole thing there in front of me, it was, like he said, easy to begin to lay in my sources where they needed to go. More than anything, in a short space of time, he gave me the confidence to keep going forward. The paper looked like a mess of quotes and ideas, and when we were done, it was an organized paper with a strong introduction and a good outline--topic sentences included. Took me a bit to write this review since I was busy turning in my paper! Thanks, Mr. C!!
After my first session with Francis, I quickly learned that he has the experience to help me learn the required material to pass the GED test. I'm very excited to work together!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
