Candice seems well versed in the areas of English Writing, Vocabulary, Grammar and Reading Comprehension. On her first tutoring session, she took the time to assess my daughter’s strengths and weaknesses and told us that she would tailor a lesson plan according to what she had assessed. She uses positive reinforcements to help my daughter reach her true potentials. I am certain that she is a very good fit and that my daughter will really benefit from her tutoring. As the time progresses, I will be able to make a better assessment, but for now after the first meeting, we are very pleased that we selected her.
I found Candice to help my 74-year-old mom from Japan with English conversation. My mom has had 2 lessons so far and enjoyed them very much. Candice can put her at ease and is very accommodating in terms of doing extra prep work at home between lessons and giving my mom homework so that my mom can get the most out of the lessons.
Candice has made a wonderful impact on my 8th grade son. His motivation and confidence hasn't been this high in a long time as his grades are going higher every day! My son enjoys working with Candice very much as she is very patient and takes into consideration my son's strengths and weaknesses. She established good rapport with him and is a perfect tutor match for my son.
My daughter is a junior and up until recently has not had too many issues with her Algebra 2 class. Lately however, she has gotten quite overwhelmed with the course work and needed some extra help. Candice walked through the problems at a good pace and explained the process along the way. My daughter was involved and asking questions in the very relaxed and productive work environment Candice created. We highly recommend Candice!
Candice is very personable, positive and an excellent teacher. She gives good feedback and supports the learning process. My wife had a lesson and she was great. We decide to take her lesson every week! She is diligent and has a very good attitude with students. Students will never regret taking her lesson.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over two years of experience working with children grades K-6. I have taught elementary math, reading, writing, and vocabulary. I use various educational games, materials, and workbooks to assist in the learning process. I have taught at least ten different students various K-6 subjects.
English is my specialty. It's always been my favorite subject in school, and I want to help those who struggle with it. English, and communication, is vital in our society today. Without proper knowledge of it, we can't fully thrive.
I have more than a year of experience tutoring ESL. I have taught several students of different cultures, including Korean and Latina women, at varying levels of English.
Reading and literature are a favorite pastime of mine. There is much to learn from literature.
Philosophy is by far the most interesting subject I have ever encountered. It isn't always easy, but I think it can be incredibly fun.
Vocabulary is important. I feel that with the right tricks, games, and ways of learning vocabulary can be fun to learn.
I love writing. I'm the kind of person that actually ENJOYS writing essays. I want to spread my experience and joy of writing with others.
