I began tutoring physics twelve years ago because of my passion for the subject. I continue to tutor physics because I have discovered an equally profound passion for teaching. Many people dread or fear taking physics because of its reputation as impossible to grasp and boring. I feel it is my job to disprove both notions.
My teaching philosophy is based on the belief that my students' needs are of the utmost importance and that students learn best when they are actively engaged. I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals.
I specialize in physics and mathematics, from introductory mechanics and electromagnetism to algebra, calculus, and even quantum mechanics. This allows me to focus on the nuances of technical learning and education.
I have been a Professor of Physics at a local community college for three years. I was a teaching assistant, earning an Outstanding Teaching Associate of the Year Award from the American Association of Physics Teachers for 2008.

Lluvia helped my daughter with her AP physics class. She was very patient, and cares about her students. She made sure my daughter was understanding what she was explaining to her.
Lluvia helped my son prepare for an upcoming AP physics test. She was very patient in explaining the concepts that will be on the test. She also had great resources to help him practice.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took a semester long class in linear algebra as part of my physics bachelor's program at UC Berkeley. We went over vectors, matrices, matrix operations, special matrices, and spaces. Furthermore, the material I learned in this class was reinforced when I applied it in my Quantum Mechanics class which uses a great deal of linear algebra and linear algebra notation.
