I graduated from University of California-Irvine and I received my teaching credential from Cal State-Long Beach. I have been teaching since 2006. I have taught grades K-8. I have experience teaching and tutoring students from different ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. I have also worked as an instructional assistant with students with special needs. In addition to teaching I have worked at a tutoring academy and helped students with study skills and homework. Most recently I have tutored students in middle school and high school subjects (language arts, writing, science, and help with school projects). I am proficient in elementary school math and pre-algebra. I enjoy working with students on a one on one basis and helping them succeed in their academics. It gives me great pleasure to see a student improve and achieve their goals and purpose. Tutoring and teaching should be a positive experience and I hope to accomplish that with the students I help.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching credential which qualifies me to teach grades K-8. I received my teaching credential from California State University of Long Beach which has an excellent teaching program. I am authorized to teach English Language learners and my credential is in compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act. I have taught both elementary and middle school since 2006. In middle school I taught language arts, math and science. I have also home schooled high school students.
As a teacher in grades K-5 I have used Open Court Reading to teach children how to read. Open Court uses the phonics system to help students read. Students learn the sound spelling cards and the relationship between the sounds and the spelling for that particular sound. Teaching by phonics helps children not only become good readers but also helps them become good spellers.
I taught multiple subjects K-5 grade (Paramount U.S.D.) and received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State-Long Beach. I taught middle school Social Studies and privately tutored students in elementary, middle and high school in various subjects. I worked as a tutor/ homework helper at a learning academy for second language learners. I am also able to use phonics and appropriate grade level books to teach reading and grammar.
