Hi, my name is Jorge and I am passionate about helping others succeed with their education. As the first person in my family to attend and graduate form a university, education has opened many doors for me. I want to help others become confident in their academics and progress in their careers.
I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Merced in May of 2019. Throughout my time in school, I enjoyed working with others to solve problems and learn together while navigating difficult coursework.
Lately, I've been helping my younger brother with his courses in Calculus and Economics as he completes his second year of college.
Math was one of my favorite subjects throughout high school and college. It was one of the reasons I decided to study mechanical engineering. I did not always find it easy, and I struggled at times to understand the concepts. Nonetheless, one of my favorite moments was when it all clicked and I finally understood the problems and concepts. I want to help others do the same!
I chose mechanical engineering because it combined a few of my favorite subjects from high school: calculus, physics, and economics. I have about two years of industry work experience in mechanical engineering. There is always something new to learn, whether you are in school or in industry. This is the mentality I bring to work and to tutoring. I want to help others understand the physical world, the way things work, and the way they're intertwined.
In school, I was not the smartest person in my classes. I worked hard, I was dedicated to learning, and I built a belief in my abilities over time. In high school and at the beginning of college, I didn't think I was cut out to do well in school. However, as I dedicated more time and effort to learning, I started to believe that I could be successful. This, I believe, is one of the keys to doing well in school and in life: believing that you are capable. Everyone has different strengths and skills, and they
