Through these lessons, he reviews everything we learn in the past lessons. Not only he asks, and I answer, but more like two friends chatting with each other. I feel more free to talk and feel comfortable. He is really good and patient. For example, this class I didn't do well (because the words about vegetables I didn't memorize well), I felt so bad, however he still kept smiling and encouraged me to say whatever in my mind, and then he corrected me. I am getting excited because I am going to learn cooking from him. He is so awesome, he really knows a lot!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Please allow my expertise to help you. I have been an ESL/EFL Instructor for the past 12 years. I know what foreign students feel. I also understand what it is like to be a foreigner learning a difficult language because I have taught in 4 different countries, and I had to learn my host country's language to survive~!

I am interested in tutoring the subject of public speaking for a few reasons. First of all, I personally have taken college courses on public speaking, and I passed them without any problems or difficulties. Secondly, I participated in a variety of public speaking events (ex: Japanese speech contests in San Francisco, Speaker at the PTA meetings in Japan and South Korea, among others). Third, I worked as a speech contest coach for 3 students in the past while I was in Japan. These students, middle schoolers, wanted to participate in an English speech contest, and I basically helped revise the written portion of their speech, gave them tips and advice on how to speak in front of a crowd, and how to use gestures that would help augment their speech. Finally, I worked as a speech contest judge for nearly a year when I was in Japan, and, from this experience, I understood what judges were looking for in the contestants. I would also like to add that while drama acting may not be directly considered public speaking, I wanted to mention that I not only helped write the script for but also helped in designing and directing 2 drama performances that were done in such a way that the entire drama cast, including myself, was interviewed by local news reporters in South Korea and a picture appeared in the local papers as well.
It is for all of these reasons that I feel myself adequately knowledgeable and skilled enought o be able to help someone with their public speaking needs.
