I am dedicated to lifelong learning. While my degrees are in History and Historiography, I've taken many courses in Literature, Philosophy and Classics. I have a strong background in European History, particularly the Medieval, Renaissance and Reformation periods. I have minored in Asian History, and have focused on various aspects of Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian History. Another area of particular focus has been Intellectual History, especially the History of Science.
As a grad student, I was a TA in graduate History classes, as well as an exam Reader. Additionally, I have a solid background in historical research and essay writing. I am proficient at exam preparation. I have mastered the art of teaching students how to read a textbook--by which I mean how to quickly extract the useful information that will help the student improve quiz and test scores.
In sum, I am an eclectic learner, skilled at assisting students to find the help they need, whether in the area of research, essay writing or exam prep.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
