About Judith

I love to teach, that's the bottom line. Last year because of the economy I was laid off after teaching for 13 years. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development for California State University at Northridge. I expected to find job in a therapeutic situation and continue my education. To make money in the mean time I took a job as a substitute teacher. My first day in the classroom was awesome; I called my husband and told him that I couldn't believe that I got paid for this. I subbed for five years and then took a full time job. I taught both second grade and kindergarten. Also during this time I worked with the Downs Syndrome Association of Los Angeles to develop a reading program for parents to use with their young children. My favorite thing about teaching is to find out how a child learned and teach accordingly. I love to teach, that's the bottom line. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have my bachelor's in Early Childhood Development from CSUN. Now I am enrolled in a master's program in Early Education. Both of these programs include a component on the non-typical child. I develop and taught an early reading program for parents with preschoolers with down syndrome. Through the years of teaching I have had many students whose learning style had to be addressed through the adaptation of the curriculum. I am very comfortable working with kids with autism and have had the privilege of doing it frequently through the years.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught elementary school in all subjects ranging from English to math. English involves grammar, writing, vocabulary. Math in elementary school goes from addition to working with fractions.
