Hello! I have had the opportunity to work in the corporate world as a research analyst, before becoming an educator. I have traveled widely, and love international customs, culture and languages. I owned my own tutoring/language school for several years and helped a variety of students aged 2 years to adult! I believe every child can learn and my method of teaching is thorough, customized to the individual and compassionate. I have spent some time tutoring my own child, who is now 15, and she is enjoying the learning process!
I have always had a love for learning! As a credentialed teacher, my specialty was to help teenagers complete their high school diplomas, pass the GED and/or help adults get ahead. I taught mostly in Literacy and Math Labs. After that, I became an ESL teacher for children and adults. From 2010 to 2015, I owned and operated a tutoring and foreign language instruction Learning Center in the Long Beach, CA region. I have written two books and was a motivational public speaker for many years.
I customize my Spanish lessons for the individual or small group class. I use Differentiated Learning Techniques and Total Physical Response teaching modalities when teaching. Patience and compassion are two of my signature teaching offering: I make the language learning process no-stress. I studied Spanish in Jr. High, High School and earned a bachelors degree in Spanish at UC Berkeley. I traveled widely in Spanish speaking countries and am now earning a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish at CSU Dominguez Hills.
I look forward to hearing from you if you wish to speak with my satisfied customers or learn more about my teaching style. Gracias por el interes....ojala que nos hablamos pronto. :-) Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
