My experience includes six years of teaching US History and World History at a local community college after graduating with honors, from CSU Fullerton. I have also presented papers at professional conferences, published papers in academic journals as well as edited articles to be published. In addition to writing skills, I can also teach study skills that will help students improve their performance in other areas of study. Some of these skills include; how to more effectively use textbooks as tools for learning, how to create and use effective outlines for high performance studying, how to create highly effective flash cards and memory tools, to make the most of your study time, how to create more effective time management skills to make the most of a limited schedule, how to read and interpret the syllabus provided by the teacher, how to more effectively take notes in class, how to break down complicated, multipart essay questions into more easily understood elements for study. Students and their parents can benefit from my experience at the community college and university, by using the learning systems and study skills that helped me survive and thrive in the educational system.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
