I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I majored in biology. Additionally, I have earned both my master's and doctorate degrees in education. I have spent many, many hours working with high school students one-on-one and in small groups.

I'm a good listener and I will be able to identify your misconceptions and help you think through the problems.
Specifically for science, I believe that if students can identify their misconceptions, they will see that science makes sense and doesn't have to be complicated or difficult.

I can help you with your homework and help you prepare for tests.

I am currently a Science Instructor at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point. I am temporarily available to tutor during this time when schools have been closed.

Great teacher. Very knowledgeable. My daughter enjoys working with Rachel.

She has helped my daughter raise her grade in honors biology and become more confident. We will definitely continue to use Rachel.

Great tutor

Rachel has worked with my 16 year old son twice and I already know she is well prepared and flexible in her teaching style. She has been willing to work with my son in the way that best serves him. She has been on time and flexible in every way. We have used other tutors who are set in their way as far as teaching style, and if it doesn't suit the student they won't bend. Rachel seems to be a talented teacher in that she can adjust her style to the student. Rachel is appropriate, professional and a pleasure to have around. Biology is not my son's favorite subject and Rachel has helped him both times they worked together. We will use her again!

Experienced

Rachel has been tutoring my son in Chemistry for few sessions now. My son has recently changed high school, and is taking Chemistry in 10th grade for the first time, so he needs help catching up with the subject. Rachel listened to our requirements, and is providing assignments for my son to work on after the tutoring sessions as we had requested. Then in the following session, she checks his work. Rachel is resourceful, and has provided charts, and other study tools that is helping my son study for his Chemistry final exam. Rachel is doing a great job, and demonstrated her experience in tutoring. Thank you Rachel!

Prepared and prompt

I would highly recommend Rachel. She's probably one of the most prepared tutors I have met! She even took time to look over the study guide before she came for the tutoring session.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor.

Rachel possesses the skills to present a clear and complete picture of what my daughter needs to understand the material. She is also very patient and professional. I have also noticed that Rachel is passionate about biology and has sparked my daughter's curiosity. Moreover, my daughter feels at ease asking for clarification and feedback.

Great Tutor!

Rachel is very patient, competent, and knows how to work with kids. She helps my 6th grade daughter on science and social studies while focusing on reading comprehension and reading skills. Rachel works with my daughter once a week. She arrives well prepared based on books we have provided. For the first two sessions, Rachel helped my daughter to study for tests based on study guides. She let my daughter read, and she asked questions and made sure my daughter understood and wrote done the answers. Rachel took notice of my daughter’s computer-bound study style and steered her towards exploring different approaches in organizing information. My daughter enjoys working with Rachel. I am glad we have found her and highly recommend her.

Great Tutor!

Rachel is very patient and knows her stuff. She understands students and takes the time to listen to what their issues are. She is tutoring my daughter in high school chemistry (honors). Rachel works with my daughter once a week. She arrives prepared based on the material we send her ahead of time. She understands different teaching methods and after talking to my daughter for a short period of time at the beginning of the first session figured out how to approach the lessons. Rachel make's sure my daughter understands the topic before moving on to the next one. I am glad we found her and highly recommend her.
