About Chris

I have a bachelors degree in Computer Science and Art Studio (fine art). I subsequently worked in the visual effects field for about ten years, using Maya and Python.

I like to use the shadow class method. Where the tutor reviews the lessons teaught by the teacher, and makes sure the student understands what was covered, as well as helping the student with any questions they have on the assignments.

I have been enthusiastic about computers since about elementary school. My Computer Science degree was just a start for me. I learned Maya, and even attended Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. My credits include Prometheus, Gangster Squad, and The Hangover Part III, among others. During this entire time, I wrote Python code every day. I am quite adept with it and Qt for creating graphic interfaces. I look forward to passing on my knowledge to whoever I can

I am generally available for tutoring every day from 9am-7pm

Please feel free to contact me to find out how I can help you with your goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autodesk Maya

I was using Maya as early as 2004, and professionally from about 2011-2013. I have attended a variety of classes, including continuing education at Gnomon School of Visual Effects. I specialized in dynamic FX (particles, dust, fluid, fire, cloth).

Computer Science

I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UC Davis. As part of my classwork I learned multiple programming languages, and the concepts that tie them together, including data structures and complexity, machine learning, and software design. I have applied these lessons professionally for over 10 years, and applied them to a wide variety of programs, and new languages.

Python

I have a Computer Science degree that taught me a wide variety of general programming knowledge, such as data structures and various framework styles. I subsequently spent 10 years applying these lessons to Python every day. I have written small to large command line programs, GUI applications, even synchronized applications that run across multiple machines on the "render farm".
