Having been a classroom teacher and tutor for over 12 years, I have a love for helping students as well as a love for English. I enjoy assisting students in developing an appreciation of English or at the very least, new skills that will help them navigate such an important subject with more enjoyment and ease. My favorite part of tutoring is seeing a student grow to love reading and writing as they find the subject easier and more engaging. Anyone can become a stronger writer and reader with the right support and encouragement. I am also well equipped to work with advanced students seeking to hone their reading and writing skills as they push on to higher levels of English learning.
I specialize in English instruction in grades 3-12. Having taught for 12+ years, I have significant experience working with all ability levels. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in English/Language Arts (Early Adolescence) and I am certified to teach English in California in grades K-12.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Because of my significant background in the subject of English as well as my experience preparing students in writing, I feel that my knowledge of grammar is strong. I have significant experience as an English tutor for both ESL and native speakers of English.
