Bonjour! I love France and all things French! Since high school, it has been my ambition to live and work in France, becoming indistinguishable from the locals. In 2008-2010 I moved to Paris to study French at the Sorbonne and participate in an internship. Please visit their website for more information : http://www.ccfs-sorbonne.fr/. After two years I finished in university level courses for foreigners and a C1, superior, European level proficiency.
Stateside I taught Middle School French for one semester at a private school and have translated in court. For the past year I worked at a French fine dining restaurant where I used my language skill every evening. A friend of mine in town was the French pastry chef at the French bakery. Both of these friendships allowed me to continue progressing in both the formal and informal forms of the language. Currently I am pursuing my masters in inter-cultural studies at BIOLA with the goal of a living and working in France for the remainder of my life. Merci de me vous faire connaissance!
With teaching I like to use a variety of methods to make the learning experience fun and interesting. I work on grammar, speaking, phonetics, reading, writing and listening. Mediums I enjoy using to help keep learning interesting include : books, film, TV programs, workbooks, internet based helps, music and food. Language is both the verbal and cultural aspect of a people and my goal is for the student to understand the French people as much as possible so as to more deeply understand the expression of the culture through language.
Personally, I have grown up in Colorado for most of my life and enjoy the outdoors and an active and healthy lifestyle. As I love other cultures I love to travel, although it's not always affordable. So instead of going geographically I go through cuisine. This past May I ran my first 10k at the BolderBoulder and look forward to running others. Bonjour! I love France and all things French! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I attended two years of French language studies at the Sorbonne in Paris along with an internship in my field. My last semester included regular university courses for foreigners and I completed the studies with a C1 (superior) European language proficiency.
I tutor both kids and adults in grammar and conversation through various médiums such as music, film/TV, workbooks, news and books, making learning interesting and fun !
