Test prep specializing in LSAT
I received my Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences from Harvard, and my Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Scripps Research Institute. I specialize in test prep for the SAT, GRE and LSAT. Unlike most people, I've always enjoyed taking standardized tests. While I don't expect everyone I work with to feel this way, I want to lower people's anxiety and make them recognize their strengths. I have some experience in college teaching, and have worked as a tutor since 2014 for a national tutoring company. I really like teaching people individually because many people do not learn well in a classroom situation, and it's easy for some people to get left behind in this setting.
Every student has different needs, but in general, I want to find the place where you are comfortable with the subject and build from there. With test prep the issues are usually test anxiety, test-specific skills, and subject knowledge. I enjoy this work both because the subjects are interesting to me and because I enjoy helping people succeed at something and overcome the obstacles that may be holding them back.
Matt has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering 1 question submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.
Patient and systematic tutor
Matt went over logic games with me thoroughly, making sure that I understood everything along the way. Matt was also great at allowing feedback and patient with any and every question I threw his way. I look forward to future tutoring sessions with him.Christian, 16 lessons with Matt
Excellent LSAT/Logic Games tutor
Matt is an excellent LSAT tutor, particularly when you use him as a supplement to your study and not rely him on him to do all the work for you. He makes this clear to you in the beginning, so it won't be a surprise. I primarily worked with Matt on Logic Games which he helped simplify and allowed me to better understand those I had trouble with during my independent study. I would recommend Matt to anyone who is committed to learning on their own and can use Matt as a tool to help push through any area of difficulty.John, 9 lessons with Matt
Brought the fun back into studying

Great SAT Tutor
I struggled with the SAT Math section very much, and a few lessons with Matt has made me few more comfortable with it and set up a good foundation to further study it. He is a great tutor who makes sure you remember the information you learn.Eric, 5 lessons with Matt
Knowledgeable and Easy to Work With
Matt is easy to work with and knows what he is doing. He is also good at explaining that not everything in math is difficult, that the wording of some questions will make you think that way. I enjoy the moments when he is stumped on a question, but ends up figuring it out and allows me to see his way of working through those difficult problems.LeAnn, 6 lessons with Matt
In person lesson
Extremely thorough and fast paced which I wanted. Teaches easily understood concepts beginning to completion. I feel I am more confident and can say I know the basics in 1 lesson!Jay, 1 lesson with Matt
