Hi! I'm here on Wyzant looking for an opportunity to tutor young students who need help in Language Arts. I have a degree in English Literature, and received a certificate to teach English as a Second Language from SDSU. I spent a year abroad in Paris, France when I was in college, and speak French fluently. When I was younger I made some mistakes and was never able to follow my dream of teaching. Instead, I have spent the last 25 years working as a letter carrier for the Post Office. I did, however, raise two talented young daughters!
Before becoming a mother I worked for a small local newspaper. I also wrote and published magazine articles. Toastmasters was my club of choice, where I wrote and delivered many types of speeches and won awards for my work producing the club's newsletter. In my spare time I volunteered teaching adult illiterate persons how to read and write. Now my kids are grown and graduated. I believe I helped them through school by teaching them how important it is to master the ability to read, write and speak the English language. Please allow me the chance to help you succeed too!
Patience and creativity in learning are my best assets here. Besides, I love learning and sharing languages! I've spent most of my life 20 miles from the Mexican border and therefore am quite familiar with non-native English speakers.
I spent 7+ years in a French language classroom. I understand how to learn French from an academic viewpoint, including conjugating verbs and constructing sentences properly. I have a good ear for the classic pronunciation of French, and my French friends tell me I have a great accent myself.
I'm a really easy person to be with, so I think you'd enjoy working with me. I absolutely love learning and teaching kids. Let my enthusiasm rub off on you. Give me a call, and let's work together to get you some "A's" on that progress report! Hi! I'm here on Wyzant looking for an opportunity to tutor young students who need help in Language Arts. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
