About Sarah

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education, Certification in special education and experience teaching third grade through eighth grade learning support, I am confident that I could make a positive contribution in tutoring various subject and topic areas. I HOUSSE'd (Pennsylvania, highly qualified teacher program in 2007) in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies at the Middle School level.
I co-taught in the inclusion classroom setting at Lehighton Area High School (Pennsylvania School) for one year, before moving to California. My caseload included 11th and 12th grade students, and I also worked with 9th and 10th grade students as well. We worked on taking on responsibility and accountability as well as subject area knowledge.
While I attended Cedar Crest College, I worked as a support counselor at Life Path Inc., in a group home for individuals with developmental disabilities. I hold an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, which I earned at Lehigh Carbon Community College. These experiences not only allowed me to gain hands-on experience with children and adults, but the experiences have taught me leadership skills and the confidence an educator must possess.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
