About Mark

I am an attorney who practiced law in Seattle for 18 years. I have always enjoyed teaching, and have taught high school classes, professional seminars, and college students. My law degree is from a top university, and I earned a BA degree from the University of San Diego. My published writing includes two cases decided in the Washington State Supreme Court.

I would like to help you or your student read and write English clearly, with perfect diction, grammar and spelling. Precision of language means speaking and writing simply and clearly, while using the exact words to communicate your ideas persuasively. I specialize in high school and college level academic papers, and college and graduate school application essays. I speak Spanish and am skilled at instructing ELL students.

English, History, social sciences. Public speaking and academic writing. Graduate degree.

Let's set up a time to make you the best communicator in English you can be.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Law

I am a licensed attorney with 20 years experience. Having recently taken the California Bar Exam I am reacquainted with the fundamentals of common law school subjects. I graduated from a top law school in 1996 with good grades.

Public Speaking

I earned a law degree from the University of Washington. In my law practice I excelled at public speaking nearly daily. I argued legal motions in open court, presented cases to juries in trial, and addressed groups of other attorneys at seminars. My extensive Trial Practice coursework, my studies at the University of Washington Criminal Law Clinic, and work experience make me an excellent instructor in public speaking.
