Are you taking a Spanish class and having trouble? Do you want to get ahead in your class with some extra help? Are you having a test and need some help studying? I can help you with all of these things! I have 35 years of experience teaching high school Spanish. I have taught all levels from Spanish I through AP Language. I recently retired from teaching and I am now tutoring. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Bilingual Education. My teaching credential is a Single Subject in Spanish with a Bilingual/Bicultural Emphasis.
I enjoy working with students who are taking a class and need some extra help in understanding material taught. If you are taking Spanish this year and are having difficulties with material taught and your homework, please consider me to be your tutor.
The 2013-2014 school year saw a new curriculum and test for AP Spanish Language. It is now called AP Spanish Language and Culture. I attended workshops to prepare me to teach this course with the changes so I feel that I can help AP students prepare for the AP Exam in May. If you are taking AP Spanish Language this year, maybe you'd consider working with me to help you prepare for the test.
I can also tutor college students taking beginning levels of Spanish.
My schedule is open on some week nights and also on weekends. If you think I would be a good fit for you to help you with your class work, homework, and tests, please consider me as your tutor.

Esther is a fantastic tutor! She is extremely knowledgeable and patient. She used teaching tools tailored to meet my son's weaknesses. Before Esther started working with my son, he had a low D in the first quarter of Spanish I. With Esther's help, he achieved a C by the end of the semester. Esther enabled him to achieve B's through the rest of Spanish I and all through Spanish II. Thank you Esther!
Making progress toward my goal of improving my Spanish. Esther is doing a great job showing me the way. She is patient and understanding. I am looking forward to our next session.
She is patient and explains very well. I wish I had her help earlier. She understood what I needed so that I could improve quickly.
My daughter used Esther for help in her senior Spanish class and the summer before going into college. Esther is a very good teacher. My daughter did very well in her Spanish class and took the Spanish Entrance Exam for college and the college wanted to move her up into a higher class than what she was originally assigned. My daughter is now in a college that is not close by, but we would not hesitate to use Esther again. She is very patient and is very flexible in her meeting times.
We contacted Esther with a very last minute change, (the night before), and she was able to switch our appointment and accommodate us. We appreciate her!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
