I’m Arwen! I am an honors college graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and more recently a M.A. in Sociology. While a student I came to realize that the classes I appreciated most were not necessarily the topics I was most interested in. Rather, it was the professors who made the classes enjoyable. These professors were always engaging and comprehensible when teaching, and were willing to go the extra mile when I asked for additional help or clarification. I try to bring this mindset to my tutoring approach and do everything I can to make learning a pleasant and productive experience.
I have seven years of tutoring experience at three different colleges as well as privately. I work primarily one on one with students in need of assistance but have been known to work with small groups occasionally as well. I have extensive experience proofreading, English and grammar, and I specialize in writing for the social sciences: Sociology, psychology, anthropology, Criminal Justice, Etc. I spent a year working as a high school teacher, however my primary focus is college instruction. Currently I serve as an adjunct instructor of sociology in addition to tutoring.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any resources or suggestion students can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional question or to schedule a lesson.
