Hello! My name is Stan and I specialize in chemistry, physics, and math. I am passionate about helping students grow intellectually. I find that a little encouragement and kindness go a long way toward helping students achieve. I enjoy watching students grow as critical thinkers, and transition from being passive to active learners. I value patience, humility, and work ethic, and try to practice these values in my teaching. Especially with chemistry, I enjoy conveying real-world connections like how chemistry is implemented in modern-day technologies and its relevance to societal issues such as climate change.

As a tutor, I try to emphasize conceptual aspects first, then show how mechanics follow (mechanics means performing calculations, drawing diagrams, interpreting word problems, etc.). My tutoring experience spans a broad range. I have tutored students and the high school, college, and graduate level. In college, I tutored fellow undergraduates through a university-sponsored tutoring program. During my graduate school studies, I served as a teaching assistant, covering a full range of chemistry lecture and lab classes. As a result, I am well-versed in the curriculum and expectations of university-level chemistry department. I have also engaged with high-school students (through the "COSMOS" program). Besides acting as a teaching assistant, I have also served as the primary instructor (professor) for an approximately 350 student lecture in organic chemistry. Although I specialize in organic and general chemistry, I also enjoy tutoring physics and various levels of mathematics (up to multivariable calculus). I currently hold a B.S. and PhD in chemistry. Please contact me with any questions! I would by happy to chat and provide support.

Amazing Organic Chemistry Tutor!

Stanley is an incredible organic chemistry tutor. I took Organic Chemistry II over the summer, and ended up with an A in the class thanks to Stanley's help. Even though the course itself was very stressful, he made the workload so much more manageable by walking me through each of the mechanisms step-by-step. He's extremely patient, and always took the time to answer my questions as thoroughly as possible. However, what I appreciated most was his dedication to helping me succeed. Even though he was on vacation abroad, he took time out of his schedule to tutor me the week before my exam. Thanks so much for your help, Stanley!
