I am a recent Juris Doctor (J.D.) graduate of the Class of 2018 from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Furthermore, I received two Bachelor's of Arts (B.A.s) degrees in International Developmental Studies and Political Science, as well as, a minor in Film, Television, and Digital Media from UCLA in 2013. In high school, I was a student tutor at Army and Navy Academy, a military college preparatory academy in Carlsbad, CA and graduated as the valedictorian for my class with a GPA of 4.431. I took roughly 10+ Advanced Placement (AP) classes (AP US History, AP Modern European History, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Psychology, AP US Government, AP Spanish Language, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP English). I was accepted to Johns Hopkins University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, and UC Irvine, which I chose to attend UCLA, entering with honors. I tutored Thai and Asian American high schoolers for my Thai American Club and Asian American Club at UCLA every week for 5+ years at the Thai temple in Hollywood from 2008-2013, I was a counselor and tutor when I ordained as a monk in Thailand at a school for novice monk kids for a year (2013-2014), and I was a previous private SAT/ACT tutor and College Counselor for around a year and a half (2014-2015). Consequently, I was accepted to Notre Dame Law School and Boston University Law, and was waitlisted to Cornell Law; I chose to attend Notre Dame Law School starting August 2015 and just recently graduated May 2018.
Being a tutor has multifaceted purposes: firstly, tutors (of course) are there to be adaptable and find effective ways to communicate to the students to explain to them in simple terms so that they understand the concept, but also cultivate their self-confidence and feelings of accomplishment. This is such an important role that a tutor should embody because these kids at such a young age may perceive you the tutor to be their role model. Therefore, secondly, being a tutor allows me to fulfill my dreams of one day becoming a role model for the underprivileged youth who grow up struggling to find their identity and acceptance. Being a tutor cultivates the essential qualities like patience, compassion, and empathy that can make the world a better place one step at a time and help me continue my journey of self-improvement.
I tutored with another similar company based in Beverley Hills, CA from 06/2014-09/2015. I truly love teaching kids and helping students overcome their educational obstacles, especially with admissions essay outlining, structuring, and writing. As an SAT/ACT tutor and an Academic Counselor for College Applications, seeing the kids' faces and smiles when they finally understand the answer to the questions that they were struggling over I work out the SAT/ACT problems with them or explain to them a breakdown of what makes a stellar personal statement for their college applications, respectively, made me so inspired to continue my path of service for the underprivileged communities.
My extensive experiences as a educational consultant, career coaching, college admissions counselor, and academic tutor have honed my interpersonal skills and passions for mentoring the youth. I provided 1-on-1 consulting to students of all levels and ages from elementary, middle, and high school to college, graduate school, and professional careers. With the right methods of educational consulting, I guided my students towards achieving their goals and deliverables that I, as their consultant, had crafted for them at every initial session. With education and workforce becoming more competitive, students, especially children, are unfairly burdened in the end. The pressure, stress, and anxiety to compete with their classmates at such young ages only increase and worsen as they get older. The skills I learned as a mentor for my clients have trained me to create personalized solutions specifically geared toward overcoming the diverse obstacles that every student faces in their pursuit of success.
As a recent Juris Doctor (J.D.) graduate of the Class of 2018 from the University of Notre Dame Law School, law school prepared me with extensive knowledge and expertise in various areas of the law such as Contracts Law, Property Law, CA Community Property, Evidence, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Trust & Wills Law, Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Legal Writing, Legal Research, Information Privacy Law, Business Law, Bankruptcy Law, Banking Law, Professional Responsibility, Environmental Law, Health Law, Jurisprudence, Intellectual Property, Law & Economics, Launching New Ventures, Law & Technology, Federal Income Taxation, Business Associations, Corporate Reorganizations, Telecommunications Law. After taking the California Bar Exam in July 2018 and currently waiting for the results, I learned to cultivate my ability to break down complex concepts and explain them in simple terms, so that my students are able to understand them easily.
