I am currently a student majoring in sociology with a minor in accounting at UCI. I am part of a program called Campuswide Honors Program in which the program selects the top 10% of incoming freshmen. Though I do not study sciences or math, I am fully confident I can assist you in the basics for I did well in high school. I scored several 4's on my AP tests such as chemistry and calculus. In addition I scored a 33 in my ACT, the science section being the highest with a score of 34. So, I would be more than happy to assist you in ACT prep as well.
As for my tutoring experience, I have gained some hours and with every opportunity that was given to me, I fully enjoyed the experience and was able to assist the student. I have worked with students from the elementary level at after school programs. I also have tutored freshman in high school through a program in my high school. I have also accumulated some hours in ACT prep. I would say my tutoring style is to make things more clear for you by reworking old problems until you fully comprehend, going through flashcards, suggesting different study habits other than cramming, and lots of practice. The ultimate goal is for you to not just simply regurgitate facts, but understand.

Sara helped me accomplish a lot of things in math. She also taught me things I presently didn't know before. Sara is awesome and makes math for me more fun. She always asks me of my opinion before we start our lesson as a kind of brainstorming and to see my opinions and thoughts about the lesson.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
