About Steven

As a mechanical engineer, I love being able to share my interest in math and science with others. I enjoy the teaching process and seeing when students grasp concepts that they have previously struggled with. I like to incorporate real world examples into my sessions to connect students with the material and get them to see a personal connection to their studies. My experience as a medical device engineer has shown me the importance of the fundamental math and science classes, and I look forward to helping students on their academic journey.

I graduated from the University of Southern California for both my undergraduate and Master's degrees in mechanical engineering. I helped tutor classmates during my time in college, and I have come to miss the connection with others as I help them truly understand difficult topics. I currently tutor a high school student in Physics and have enjoyed seeing the transition from frustrated student to engaged learner.

Math provides the foundation for so many other fields of science that a strong understanding of it is so important. I enjoy bringing real world examples to an otherwise straightforward subject, and helping students truly understand these fundamental topics.

My experience in my mechanical engineering job has allowed me to find unique ways to apply fundamental mechanics physics principles. This has given me the chance to revisit my foundational physics coursework and find a new appreciation for its real world application. I enjoy making physics approachable and interesting for students.

Please reach out to me if you need any help in your math or mechanical physics classes. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you on your academic journey!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Knowledgable

Steven taught my son graphing and factoring of higher order polynomials for ninth grade advanced math. He was very nice and professional. My son seemed to like him and understand his teaching methods.
