Attending University of California Irvine (Psychology)
My interests in tutoring and teaching come from my passions in helping others. I enjoy being able to help someone who once thought that a task was too daunting to overcome this task, and realize their potential. As a tutor, it is an exceptional feeling being there to guide someone to realize their potential. I have prior in-person tutoring experience from high school days, and can tutor in most math subjects up to pre-calculus, most psychology subjects, and criminology.
I am currently a Senior at the University of California at Irvine, pursuing a double major in Criminology, Law and Society and Psychology and Social Behavior. I am in the honors programs, and I am currently undergoing research in the Loftus memory lab. I currently have a 3.68 GPA, and have been on the Deans Honors List for nearly every quarter of my experience as an undergraduate. Furthermore, I have more than three years experience as a golf coach through The First Tee, so I am experienced in helping others from a tutor's point of view. I am available Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at any time, and Thursdays after 5 PM.
I currently do not have a car, because I am living on campus, but I am willing to travel a negotiated distance to meet up with you. I will also offer online tutoring for any of my subjects. With psychology and criminology students, I will likely find and give a small reading assignment, to help further your understanding. When it comes to tutoring, I believe in working with the student in whatever ways will best help them. As such, I will cater to most forms of learning, including auditory, explanatory, visual, and hands-on.
During high school, I and many of my friends were at the top of our class, and found math to be simple. As a result, during this time, I would offer my assistance to friends or family that would need the extra help, so I have experience in math tutoring up until calculus. I am a fun loving and energetic guy. I love to laugh and make people smile. I am also very calm and patient, and will do my absolute best to guide my tutoring around your learning style, so that you get the most out of each session.
I am looking forward to hearing from you, and being your guide to your potential! My interests in tutoring and teaching come from my passions in helping others. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Throughout childhood I was a participant of The First Tee of Fresno, a golfing organization aimed to help youth not only learn the game of golf, but also to be a respectful member of society. During high school, I took a position as an unpaid volunteer golf coach, coaching for the First Tee and helping people learn the fundamentals of golf. During my senior year, I was present the Life Values Award from First Tee President Joe Louis Barrow Jr.
