I am a recent graduate from University of California, Irvine (Zot! Zot! Zot!), with a degree in Physics and a Specialization in Astrophysics.

My tutoring experience over the past six years has been primarily in math and physics courses. I tutor math at all levels (from middle school introductory algebra, up to university level courses such as differential equations and multivariable vector calculus). I tutor physics at both the high school and university level (primarily in engineering-oriented physics courses with a foundation in calculus, and with some experience tutoring higher level classes such as General Relativity).

My tutoring experience has familiarized me with common issues students encounter and the best methods to tackle them. Having just completed my degree, I have firsthand experience of recent teaching styles and topics at UCI, and I am able to help students identify the subject matter that is most important or most likely to arise in later classes. My knowledge of the importance and difficulty of each topic allows me to help students identify common pitfalls and sidestep them.

Whether a student’s goal is grade improvement, overall stronger comprehension, test prep and homework help, or preparing for future courses, I am able to help identify the best strategies and approaches in their studies and work towards achieving their academic goals.

I live in Irvine year round, my schedule is flexible, and I am willing to travel to a student’s home, to another location to tutor (eg. libraries, coffee shops, etc…), and offer online lessons at a discount due to the reduced travel time and cost.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 are my most frequent requests from high school students. Algebra can be tedious and frustrating at times but I have been tutoring it for four years now and using the concepts for six and thus have the experience and intuition needed to help students grasp confusing concepts. I will usually start with a problem that I solve, emphasizing how and when a certain technique can be applied, then go onto a simple problem that the student solves with my oversight, and then move onto more complicated problems to reinforce the concept. I find that confidence is key when solving math problems and thus tailor the above guideline to the student adding more simple examples and instruction if needed.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of my most frequent requests from high school students. Algebra 2 can be tedious and frustrating at times but years of tutoring and using the concepts have given me the experience and intuition needed to help students grasp confusing concepts.
Calculus,

Calculus

While studying for Physics I took the full University Calculus series, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and an Advanced Mathematics for Physicists course. I have tutored all levels from high school AP to University Multi-variable Vector Calculus and simply love watching student's lightbulb moments when the topic just "clicks". I find most students struggle with the Algebra of Calculus rather than the Calculus itself, which can make a student feel like their always playing catch-up and be overwhelming. My tutoring experience helps me identify a particular student's weakness and tailor my lessons to a student with examples that we work through together to build confidence.

Physics

Over the course of the past 6 years I've been consumed by both learning and teaching Physics. I ate, slept, and bled Physics while studying and now I have the experience needed to help students achieve their academic goals!

Great Knowledge and Great Technique in Teaching

Christian has been very helpful to our Son with AP Physics 1 and he is very pleasant. Our Son enjoys his teaching style and he also communicates very well with me.

Awesome

Love Christian and the way he explains things. He’s flexible with his time with meeting spots with the hectic lives we all lead.

Cari, 16 lessons with Christian

Patient and Understanding

Christian was patient & understanding. He helped explain the solutions in a way that was easier to comprehend as curriculum is way too fast paced to get the full explanations. I will definitely use Christian again in the future!

Terrific!

Christian knows Physics! He was a great help to our son with both homework and test prep. He was patient and was able to exchange ideas with my son that he could easily understand and learn from. We will use him again!
