I am experienced in tutoring elementary, middle school, and high school math with excellent results in both common core and traditional math. I routinely help students catching up what they forget in fundamental math while tutoring them higher-level mathematics.
I am very experienced with IUSD Common Core Math Pathway. During the past two years, I've helped numerous 6th graders to get placed into Math 7/8, 7th graders successfully passed summer bridge course and placed into Enhanced Math 1. I've also taught Enhanced Math 2, 3 and regular Math 2 and 3.
My students come from Canyon View, Santiago Hills and Stonegate Elementary Schools, Sierra Vista, Jeffrey Trail, Venado and South Lake Middle Schools, Northwood, University and Portola High Schools. Each school has its own emphasis and ways of teaching. I also tutor students from Tustin School District.
My students enjoy our sessions. I put my students at ease and I give them a lot of encouragement. I also assign extra worksheets for them so they may strengthen their understanding.
I have 2 bachelor's degrees (math, cellular and molecular biology) from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a master's degree in Environmental Health Sciences from UCLA. I am now working part time at a pharmaceutical company in Irvine. In the past, I worked at Abbott Laboratory as a chemist and at Attairgin Inc. as a cancer researcher. I remain active in private tutoring throughout these years.
I am proficient in both English and Chinese. During these recent years, I've help children of new immigrants overcome the language barrier so the students can truly comprehend math concepts and math vocabularies. Reference is available upon request.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
