About Max

Hey everyone!

My name is Max. I love teaching. My favorite approach is to take math concepts and break them down into steps, which I present to the students so they understand how to tackle different kinds of problems. Also, I teach them how they should ask themselves questions, and how they should study and think about the concepts. I believe that those skills are really important, and they are going to be really useful both inside and outside of math class. I have been doing private tutoring since 2010, and have worked with students of various age range and level. My teaching experiences include working as a Computer Science and a Math tutor at Los Angeles Pierce College, a volunteer for high school and middle schools students at UCI Math Circle, and a suplementary instructor at University of California, Irvine.

Math is very easy if you understand how you should study it. I learned this important lesson through my own experience. My high school tutor showed me the beauty of math through her passion and dedication, and is what changed me from a student who struggled in math to a student who was fascinated with it, and soon wanted to pursue a PhD degree within a two-year period. My goal is to continue her work, help students, and inspire them to study and see the beauty of math.

I can teach any of the courses in Mathematics listed in my profile. Russian is my native language, so I can teach in Russian also.

Thank you for taking the time to consider me! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
