Greetings!

If you are applying to undergraduate, graduate or professional school (medical, law, etc), please reach out as I have a proven record in assisting people just like you reach their goals. I can work with you to draft, edit or enhance your college admissions essays, personal statement and or assist you through the overall application process. I also offer special rates for first generation college students who are looking for help navigating the college admissions process. Don't wait, contact me today as I can only take on a limited number of clients for each application cycle.

Now a little more about me, I am a University Professor, writer and scholar with a PhD in the Humanities, and over fifteen years of combined experience as a writing coach/tutor and editor. Writing is my passion. Over the years I have worked extensively to help clients just like you develop and fine tune their writing skills, complete applications to undergraduate, graduate and or professional schools and realize their full potential. In 2007 I co-founded a graduate writing fellows program to help my large research University meet the needs of its graduate writing community. I have developed a niche in proposal writing, college admissions essays, personal statements, grant writing and capstone and term papers. As a result of my interdisciplinary training in the humanities, I am able to draw upon a variety of tools/methods to help you improve your writing, connect with your target audience and convey ideas with depth and clarity.

While I love working with students of all ages, my other role as a University Professor means that my time is limited, and since I do not want to detract from my University responsibilities, I can only take on a few clients throughout the year in one of the following areas:

a) Professionals looking for editing only assistance with business plans, proposals, grants, papers, memoirs and similar documents.

b) High school juniors and rising high school seniors looking for assistance with the ins and outs of applying to college. This includes offering a full range of college consulting services (I have worked with students who went on to many wonderful prestigious schools/careers).

c) Undergraduate or Graduate students working on capstone projects, MA thesis, dissertations, essays or term papers.

My experiences as a writer of both fiction and non-fiction as well as a teacher/scholar means that I am able to help you effectively convey complex ideas and information to non-specialist audiences, which is ideally what we all want in our writing. My approach to tutoring is to be engaging and innovative, considering each student as an individual and therefore not applying a blanket tutoring model to every student or every subject area. To this end I consider the whole student, their diverse backgrounds, interests and life schedules when creating and administering tutoring services. I enjoy conducting lessons both online, in person, and or using a hybrid model that blends a combination of face-to-face with virtual tutoring. I try to keep my rates reasonable because I believe everyone deserves access to great quality writing assistance, and good things should remain within reach. So contact me today to get started.

I began tutoring in a writing speaking and thinking center at Tufts University so I wholly understand how these areas are related and how tackling one will also help advance an individual's skills in the other. I also worked in a Center for Reading and Language Research and often assisted core researchers in administering reading assessments, and had the opportunity to create materials for some of the students they worked with in the program. I have experience tutoring people of all ages and academic levels, as well as experience tutoring people for whom English is a second language.

Proofreading

I was first trained as a writing fellow over twelve years ago at Tufts University and have since branched out to start a writing fellows program at another research one university in the U.S. As such I engage the full editing/proofreading process and not only do I provide specific edits on your work, but I also provide extensive comments where necessary so that you begin to understand the "why" behind the proofreading process. I have a great resource "Recipe for Success in Academic Writing" on Wyzant that I adapted to make the writing process more engaging and transparent. Please check that out as well.
