University of California Irvine (Mechanical Engineer)
Hi, my name is Michael! I am a senior level, double major, mechanical & aerospace engineering student at The University of California, Irvine. I am originally from Japan, but I grew up in Hawaii. My interest in mathematics arose really early as a child. Growing up in a Japanese-type household my parents constantly pushed me on my education, but nothing captivated me more than the analysis of patterns, sequences, descriptions, and geometric beauty that math entailed. People are often too daunted by the concepts and ideas presented when learning math but with my help I will do my best to help you see math in a new perspective. With the new knowledge and confidence gained in understanding math you'll see how such subjects as physics are easier to comprehend when you understand that mathematical descriptions behind them.
I also am an avid tennis player. I've been fortunate enough to have played with some many fantastic players including juniors, collegiate, or professional (current and former ATP and WTA). With all the knowledge I have gained from my experience playing, I believe I can help your game improve in no time!
NOTE: I am an engineering major, not a math major, so as much as I want to know theory and proofs, they aren't my forte. I can help guide the student on the proof or theory to understand what it is saying in my own words. I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience.

We were from out of town but wanted to have some lessons for our girls while we were on vacation. Michael was the perfect match for our situation. He was patient, attentive, and very descriptive with the information he was passing on to the students. He was professional during all of our contact and during the lesson itself. I would highly recommend him to others and will use him again as well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I think I'm qualified to help tutor this subject because I got an A at my junior college when I took this class. I was very comfortable with the material and I already have experience tutoring a few students for this class.
I've been playing tennis for the majority of mys life. I started at 8, and became the number 1 ranked junior for the 12 and under division in Hawaii. I then played on my high school's varsity team. I then moved to California and played at my jc. After meeting a former pro and current professional coach, I became a practice partner for current and former pros.
