Hey there, I’m Kelly! I got my BS in Psychology and my PhD in Neuroscience, both on the east coast. I moved to California to continue my passion for neuroscience research as a postdoctoral scholar. I currently work as a science communicator and medical writer and in the past helped manage federal grant programs to fund epilepsy and Alzheimer’s research.

My research experience and graduate education focused on synaptic plasticity, neuronal excitability, and neurogenetics. I have spent many years working with students in the lab to teach them everything from complex lab techniques to fundamental concepts in biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, and genetics. In addition I spent a year in graduate school working as the sole counselor for the undergraduate neuroscience program at my university and found it very rewarding to help guide students in their coursework and career decisions.
