Is English your second language? Do you need help becoming more proficient? I have been teaching English as a Second Language to adults for fifteen years. I have gotten so much joy out of helping my students overcome their fears of expressing themselves in a new language and watching them develop good reading skills. I also have experience as a recreation leader and I try to incorporate a lot of fun activities into my lessons. My undergraduate degree was in American Studies so I can help you with the requirements for citizenship.

I was impressed her a plenty of expression that I can learn. I look forward to next lesson and I am expecting phenomenal progression of English use during our study.
Thank you Irene!
I wanted to improve my English as a second language to be able to start my own business and it was very difficult finding the right teacher who can help me quickly get to the next level, and someone who has experience with different cultures and have dealt with second language learners. After few weeks of web surfing I found Ms. Irene C.
We started with one session a week at Starbucks and I was amazed how my time in this class goes by so fast.
She made me think about my carrier in new home town and talk about that in different ways. She kept every class interesting and engaging.
She motivated me to read more newspapers, listen to radio stations and try to improve my vocabulary and pronunciation. She recommended a book that helps with how to get the right pronunciation.
Now I feel confident to talk in English, I'm more eager to learn new words and I listen more carefully, in general I have become more social.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I grew up in an international community, hearing many languages spoken. After high school, I spent a year in Germany, learning my heritage language by immersion. I know how it feels to be adrift in a new culture, not understanding the conversation, and also how good it feels to discover a new friend who has the patience to listen to you and guide you in your new language.
These experiences led me to complete a Master's degree in TESOL/Multicultural Education at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and receive a California Ryan credential (adult education) with certification in ESL. I also have a Tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association. I have taught ESL in adult school for twelve years and enjoy helping my students develop their ability to communicate in speech and writing.
I believe that American history is made up of all our stories and I would like to help you add your chapter to the story.
Although the most important thing for an English Language Learner is to communicate one's thoughts, it really helps to understand English grammar. We really do have rules and reasons for using the language patterns that we use! And they are not so difficult to learn. I'm sure I can help you learn the best way to express your thoughts, so people will understand and listen to you!
Learning new words can be fun and interesting. Together we will try to develop methods to USE your new vocabulary right away!
