I am a middle school science teacher who just finished pursuing my Masters in Education. I was raised in San Diego and am looking for more opportunities to work with students in my favorite subject areas of Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Biology, Spanish Language and Conversation, Essay writing, and Study habits & Organizational strategies. I majored in Biological Sciences at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I love learning and helping others love learning, too. I look forward to getting to know each student and tailoring my instruction to meet his/her needs and goals. I love outdoor activities like hiking, scuba, and swimming, as well as creative activities like painting, sewing, and photography. Minimum of one-hour sessions, thank you!
Christine is an amazing tutor! She always found a way to explain concepts to me in a way that I could understand them and was very patient with me when I didn't right away. She went above and beyond as a tutor by providing me with many external sources for learning and studying concepts. She was also very flexible with our meeting times. Taking college level math in summer school is really difficult, but with Christine's help I was able to succeed. Thanks so much!! :)
I've realized that, as I practice for the Cbest, that my habits and how hurried i am are major stressors and detractors from the test taking itself. Slowing down, being thorough, and re learning basics to improve efficiency are some things I've learned so far. Highly recommend Christine as a tutor. She loves what she does.
Christine is tutoring me in Spanish. She is prepared, informative and attentive. The tools and direction she provides are excellent. Great tutor
Christine is helping me understand the material and homework. Although this is a summer class at a breakneck speed, with your help I am getting at least some of it. Thank you!
Christine really helped my son who is a good math student but was struggling with some new material. He enjoys his tutoring sessions with her very much and says they make math so much easier at school. He has improved his grade and isn't as stressed by upcoming math tests. Christine is always on time and is very flexible with our busy schedule.
Christine is a great tutor. She comes on time and has a great way of presenting the material. She is doing an excellent job!
I'm am very satisfied with the tutor that I found on WyzAnt, she is able to tutor my son in both Algebra II and Spanish II. She is extremely knowledgeable in both subjects, relatable to my son and pushes him to succeed. Her availability is pretty open, she has recommended great sites for additional subject education and has offered to review his assignments in advance. In just 2 weeks my son has brought home 2 "A's" and 1 "B" in subjects that he was struggling in with "D's". I highly recommend this site to anyone who has a child who needs additional one-on-one tutoring. I looked into several different sites and companies, that charge membership fees, or a fortune for tutoring packages. If I wanted to spend a fortune on tutoring services I would have enrolled my son in a "private school". This site allows average parents the affordability to give their child additional tutoring at a reasonable rate that does not break the bank.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I scored a 100% on the WyzAnt proofreading subject test.
I took and passed the AP Spanish test and have studied Spanish in college. I also have traveled to Spain twice where I used my Spanish to navigate northern and southern cities of Spain. I can read, write, and speak in Spanish well and feel very confident tutoring others at high school, college, and conversational levels. I love the Spanish language and culture and believe that learning Spanish is the key for any English speaker to better understand his/her own language (Latin commonalities) as well as a gateway language to many more languages (other Latin-based languages or very different languages). I believe that learning a language makes a student better in every subject, not only because learning more vocabulary can help in English class but also in science class, where many terms are Latin-derived. Confidence in one's ability to learn is a powerful force that can motivate a student to pursue excellence in other subjects, as I did.
