Chapman University (Psychology)
Chapman College (Master's)
International University (PhD)
I am a graduate of Chapman University for both my B.A, and my M.A., and I have a Ph.D. from International University in Psychology. I have successfully tutored elementary, high school, college, and graduate students and I am very flexible in my "teaching". I am able to adapt my style to the mode that most benefits my student.
* Excellent knowledge of English, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and proofreading.
* Great organizational ability. I can help children, elementary through high school, and college students learn the steps to organize and write essays, reports and projects.
In addition, I have been a clinical psychologist for over 20 years and I love psychology! I am available for tutoring in most psychology subjects, and I am friendly, kind, patient, encouraging, and I know my "stuff". I continue to take continuing education units so I am up to date on current information. I specialized in clinical psychology so I am especially informed on the different theorists, theories and behavioral aspects of each of the principles.
My hours are flexible, and I can see students on Saturdays. Sundays are also possible with advanced scheduling. Please feel free to contact me, and I look forward to working with you so you can be successful in your psychology coursework. Thank you. My son has been struggling in junior college and was in jeopardy of failing. We have tried a few different tutors with no success. He started working with Susan on a summer English class and his whole attitude toward college has changed. She not only has helped him with his writing skills, but has instilled the confidence in him that he can be successful in college. She is very patient, caring, and easily accessible, but most importantly caters her tutoring to the particular student's learning style. We will be working with Susan on future courses, along with time management and study skills. She has put my son back on track to transfer to a four year university. I highly recommend Susan.
Susan is terrific at brainstorming and assisting with writing English papers. She is up front about her strengths and will let you know ahead of time if the topic you are writing on is familiar to her or not. But don't let that discourage you, because she will help! Highly recommended, especially for undergrad and grad papers.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have B.A. in psychology, an M.A. in developmental psychology, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. In addition, I am required by my licensing board to take continuing education classes every year. I have been a clinical supervisor and a tutor for high school and college students.
I am a very skilled writer and have taken many advanced courses during my college years. In addition, I have an excellent knowledge of punctuation and grammar rules, along with a solid understanding of sentence structure. I have a love of writing, and strongly believe in the power of the "written word."
