Bachelor of Science degree (Education)
For over 13 years now, I have taught photoshop and is currently my tool of choice in all my design projects coupled with illustrator and lightroom. I also do a lot of photography work and photoshop comes in very handily. I have taught beginning Photoshop and advanced photoshop. Other programs that I use in my design work include Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator. Currently I am using CS5. But if you have an older version you can still do a lot of amazing things with it especially if you are a beginner. Since I do a lot of graphic intensive work I also built my own computer and configured it so it can handle a tough load. I am running windows 7 64-bit, 12 GB of RAM, 1 GB dedicated graphics card. But I also am comfortable working with a Mac. It is important that you have your own computer or laptop dedicated to your graphics work as photoshop is very RAM intensive. I suggest the MINIMUM requirement for your computer to begin with should be : Pentium IV, 2 GB of RAM, 150 GB of HDD.
My current certifications include Photoshop User Professional Certification and Computer Graphics Certification. I am a current member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
In learning photoshop it is important that you have the drive and the patience as it will require your eye for design and technical know how of the software. In my experience the only way you can truly learn and master photoshop is to really spend time using it in your projects. That is why my teaching method is all project-based. He taught to the problems I presented, gave me many shortcuts that can speed up my work. Solve a viewing problem with indesign that my computer tec could not solve. Taught linking images that has been very helpful. Helped to solve over text problem and showed how to resolve it in the future.
Sim A. was very helpful to me in understanding Lightroom. He even emailed me the highlights of the lesson we worked on. I will continue to use him to help me with more aspects of Lightroom.
Sim helped me with a Photo Shop project and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He patiently and clearly explained everything as we worked. He gave me many short cuts and tips. I walked away with a fantastic project and a new skill set. I will definitely be using him again. I highly recommend Sim.
Sim is very easy to work with and very clear and concise explaining the subject. I like the summaries he sends after the class which makes my studying so much easier!
He's just what I needed to shape up and get comfortable with Dreamweaver.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I use Adobe InDesign everyday. I am a Desktop Publishing Specialist for a language translation company. I have used Indesign for the past 10 years. Adobe Indesign is the Industry standard for print publishing. I use Photoshop and Illustrator side by side with Indesign as most publications involve images and image adjustments. I was trained in Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing.
I use Photoshop mainly in my designs both for print and the web. I have been using Photoshop since version 3. I am currently using CS 5. I will soon upgrade to CS 6. I had introduced a Computer Graphics Course in my previous high school and have taught Photoshop as the main tool for the design course. So my experience with the program is pretty extensive. I have a Computer Graphics Specialist Certificate through NCSA and a Photoshop User Professional Certification through KW training. I also use Photoshop together with Lightroom for all my photography retouching and enhancement needs. Although I work in the Windows environment, I am equally adept in using this program in the Mac platform. Remember that Photoshop is just a tool. Creativity and imagination comes first. Photoshop offers you endless possibilities. Have fun.
