I have taught preschool, K-12, and ESL(English as Second Language)in adult education over the past 22 years. I've kept in touch with many of my students. One of my first students in preschool has graduated high school and begun college.
I love teaching and tutoring so much that I can't think of anything else I'd much rather be doing. I've shared this with many of my former students year after year. "If you find a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life." -Confucious- This is exactly how I feel about what I do.
In the current state of education, many teachers are overwhelmed by their overcrowded classrooms due to continued employee cuts to balance the state's budget. If you feel your child is not getting the attention he/she is due then you have either sat inside the classroom, or have listened to your own frustrated child.
I am available to assist you and your child in getting the attention that is essential to feel confident and empowered by the learning he/she deserves. I am extremely patient, professional, and have witnessed growth and progress firsthand throughout my years. I work with all ages.
Thank you for taking the time to invest in your education. Lisa Marie G. I've been fingerprinted and TB tested and can provide this information upon request.

Lisa has been a huge blessing to our son Cameron! He has been struggling in grammar & history and with Lisa's help he has improved incredibly. I highly recommend Lisa. She is very patient and is an excellent teacher! Can't say enough!
It is a huge blessing to work with clients who are ready and willing to learn. I love to hear when students improve in their subjects! Thank you for your feedback, Loriann and Cam.
Lisa was very helpful in getting my son organized and on track with his homework. Will continue with her help in the future.
Lisa has been tutoring my 10 year old daughter for the past 3 months. My daughter looks forward to her tutoring sessions twice awake and she loves working with Lisa. I have noticed an improvement in her self-esteem and her reading comprehension. I would recommend Lisa to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable and dependable tutor.
It is such a pleasure working with students who get excited about learning. I'm looking forward to our summer tutoring sessions together!
Was given homework prior to meeting. Didn't finish but tutor and student did problems together. Always explaining how to get end result.
So glad we found Lisa. She has been tutoring my father with his English vocabulary since November. His primary language is Spanish. He went from not knowing how to read nor write in English to now reading every sign he sees on the street. I am very happy to see everything he has been accomplishing. I would recommend Lisa 10 times over and over!
Gloria, Your father is a hard worker and asks a lot of great questions. I'm very happy to work with such an inquisitive student who wants to learn more. Thank you for writing this recommendation.
There was no way for my stepson to finish Spanish homework and study for the finals without Lisa! Even though it was an urgent request, she made her time to come to our house to help him and he got A on his oral presentation! Thank you Lisa. You definitely helped him!
Akiko, I am always glad to tutor students who truly make the effort to achieve their goals. Thank you for taking the time to write.
Lisa has a great personality and is well suited for teaching Spanish. She engages students and makes learning fun. Learning a language can be difficult for seniors in our Senior Mobilehome Park so we had to terminate our lessons. Wish we could do it all over again.
Thank you, David. I'm here for those who prefer one-on-one tutoring.
Lisa is very patient and works extremely well with my son in reading and writing. She really knows my son's needs and circumstances and works on it. I highly recommend Lisa!
Thank you, Tony. I look forward to working together this summer!
Lisa is the best tutor I've ever encountered in my whole life. I hope to continue tutoring with her when I return.
Thank you, Pam. See you when you return!
Very excited about teaching and the kids like when she comes, makes work easy to understand. We are very pleased with her communication skill and knowledge of material.
I'm so glad we were able to find one another via WyzAnt. I enjoy making learning fun for them.
Thank you for your testimony.
Thanks to Lisa I feel confident in taking my upcoming GED Writing section. Lisa helped me identify my weak points and strengthened them enough therefore I will pass my GED. Lisa's patience and understanding was a great asset and I highly recommend her to anyone trying to better their education.
I'm so glad you were able to take the time out to dedicate yourself to your goal of passing the last of the 5 tests. Best wishes to you and all that you do!
Lisa is fantastic! She has helped our son in so many ways! He is beyond organized, and confident! Huge difference from last year! We have had Lisa for the past 4 months and we could not be happier! Our son just got honor roll! He looks forward to every meeting with Lisa! We all do as she is not only an amazing tutor, but she is a lovely person! Thank you Lisa!!
Sheila, your son should receive a "Most Improved" award for his excellence in organization! It's amazing how once we're organized and stay on top of it, everything seems to fall into place. I am so happy for his honor roll acceptance. He has definitely put forth his all. What a pleasure to be his tutor! Thank you for taking the time to write.
We have had Lisa tutor our daughter a few times and she has always come with a big smile on her face, she is very encouraging and patient. I would highly recommend her.
Thanks so much for taking time to write a review,
Lisa has been wonderful with my son, she is very sweet, patient and is having so much fun working with him. My son says that he has learned a lot with just the few times she has been by. Cant wait to use her for my daughter when she gets back from vacation this summer!
Alyson, your son is such a bright and eager student! It's a pleasure to be a part of his learning. I'm so happy he did so well on his placement test for school. See everyone in September! Thank you.
Lisa is never later for her appointment and values the time with students. She is the best tutor you can ask for. She is very patient and systematic. She makes sure that my English skills improve and there is a result after the sessions. Her teaching skills are easy to follow and understand and I do believe that I'm making a lot of progress.
Tony, I'm impressed by the effort you put into our sessions every week. Continue to keep up the great work! Thank you.
Also, when my children started the lesson with her, she called the book store and help select the right Spanish books for them. The children enjoy the classes so far with Lisa.
Though our daughter attended both private tutor and group tutor, we saw a just little improvement. For weeks, we searched for tutors, and Mrs. Lisa's name came up. We read her profile and people's comments, but we were still doubt about those comments. We decided to give it a try. After three sessions, we learn Mrs. Lisa is a very capable tutor and unique styles. Besides improving her math and English tremendously, She has also helped our daughter to enjoy studying (this is quite valuable for us). It has been four months, and Mrs. Lisa continues to impress us. We truly appreciate Mrs. Lisa's professional skills in helping our daughter to excel.
Joe, your daughter tells me how she's improved in her classes. She was so proud when her teacher recognized her in front of everyone in class. Best of all she's found fun in learning and gained more confidence. She believes she can accomplish many things now.
My son does not necessarily love school therefore we got him a tutor to help him in a multitude of subjects. Lisa has been wonderful! Not only is she versed in a variety of subjects but my son actually looks forward to meeting with her. I would highly recommend Lisa to anyone in need of a patient, easy going, friendly and skilled tutor.
Thank you, Kristine. I look forward to tutoring as well! I enjoy what I do and that can be illuminating, captivating, encouraging, and hopefully habit-forming.
We couldn't be happier with the support that Lisa has provided to our son. His grade has come up a full letter grade. She is great!!!
Michelle, your son is very patient and willing to learn. I am so happy with his progress!
Lisa was terrific! My nephew had been struggling to pass his GED and after hiring Lisa, he accomplished that goal in a short time. She is very patient and an excellent teacher. We are so grateful for her help. Thank you, Lisa!
He was determined the whole way! I was there as his guide.
Lisa has been a wonderful tutor for my daughter. She's always on time and gets right into helping my daughter. Lisa is very patient and helpful. She walks my daughter through the math problems and when possible, plays math games to make it more enjoyable. And I truly appreciate how kind she is to my daughter. I would highly recommend Lisa to anyone interested in finding a great tutor.
Thank you, Veronica! We have fun while we work.

Dear Jo Ann,
You and your husband have done a great job in raising such an optimistic young man. Your family has been through a lot. Attitude is everything. I'm honored to be 'a keeper'.
Thank you very much for this.
From the moment I saw Lisa's big smile and WyzAnt t-shirt I knew I had a winner. She was friendly and accessible, yet professional and focused. She understood my situation quickly and offered concrete, specific examples of how she could help me. And what a varied and interesting background she has! I highly recommend Lisa as a Super Tutor and WyzAnt booster who loves teaching and knows how to get results.
Thank you for choosing me over all of the other WyzAnt tutors in the county! Rest assured I'll take care of things here as you move on to the next phase.
Best of luck to you, Suzanne!
Lisa, It has been a pleasure working with you! As you know the ESL classes we scheduled with you was a trial project we took on and we concluded that our employees moral and English skills have improved. Thanks to you!!! We will hope to continue the ESL classes this summer.

Lisa is always open and available to provide us with feedbacks and recommendations on matters regarding our child’s education. I especially appreciate the written detail feedbacks that Lisa provides after each lesson.
I really appreciate your feedback Mike! It has been such a pleasure to work with a student that is so excited about his learning! He is an incredibly, bright leader already!
I have taken the GED test three times and didn't pass, signed up for wyant and chose Lisa.
She showed me that cutting corners doesn't work, as I found out and my test results showed.
She steered me streight and is honest, not trying to take your money.
Made math fun and I want to study, thanks Lisa!
Be calling you soon for my next life experience!
Adam, remember the carrot. You got this! I'm here to assist.
We felt very fortunate to have Lisa G. as a tutor for our 11 year old daughter. Our daughter's confidence in math grew as did her grades. Lisa was always punctual and ready to listen as well as teach. We would recommend Lisa with the highest of praise.
I felt very fortunate to be a part of your daughter's growth.
Lisa was punctual, friendly, patient and very professional. She addressed my specific needs right away; in three sessions I saw improvement in my areas of need. She has exceptional listening skills. I highly recommend her as a tutor.
Thank you Irais! Please let me know when you're back in town so that we can talk about the writing portion of the CBEST.
My son said he learned a lot from Lisa. My son improved his grades in school since Lisa started to teach him. My son said she his funny and friendly. She is always patient with us. She is on time, very ethical and never makes any lesson hard.
Thank you! Your son really enjoys math and truly finds it interesting now.
Lisa is the BEST tutor I have ever met. When she was scheduled to come she was always on time. Plus, it was so neat to see my daughter excited for her “time with Lisa” days. Lisa would make sure she changed it up so that my daughter wouldn’t get bored doing the same thing over and over again. I highly recommend Lisa and hope you give her a try.
Thank you very much Tammy! Tell the girls Ms. Lisa says, "Hi!" Happy New Year to your family!
She is a really patient and very kind tutor. If you are looking for a tutor to help you improving your English, I think she is the right person.
Thank you, Mindy, for your kind words. I am so proud of you for preparing for the U.S. Citizenship Test already! I'm here if you need assistance.
In just a matter of 2 weeks with Lisa my 20 year old son is much more confident in his work. She has taught him to understand what he is reading and comprehend his homework. He only had 4 weeks to up his grade from an F- half way there- he is at a C now. Lisa is very patient and personable. Thanks Lisa!
Thank you, Heidi! The subject matter that your son is working on became my major in college and my career in life. He is a very open-minded and willing student. I just love what I do!
Lisa has been a great tutor to my 5th grader. I have her working mainly on math with her and she has helped her to better understand what she is learning in school, and has great tricks for remembering math facts. 5th grade math is not what it used to be! Lisa has a sweet demeanor and I can tell that my daughter really likes her. Her enthusiasm and positive feedback have helped my daughter to have more confidence in the subject.
Thank you Penny! Your daughter is such a pleasure to tutor. She is excited about learning and absorbs information like a sponge.
Lisa worked with my unmotivated teen to develop his writing skills. She was patient and supportive of his process while providing him honest and helpful feedback about his work. Lisa was reliable, timely and followed up promptly. If we need more support in the future, we will be sure to call her.
I really appreciate your response. Thank you! May your son continue to use the writing steps he has learned in his new classes.
Lisa G. is the greatest! She has put a new love of learning into my 14 year old son that I have not been able to do! She comes ready to work and makes tutoring a lively, fun experience! Thank you Lisa, and thank you WyzAnt!!
Thanks Adrienne! As you already know, I absolutely love what I do and I'm only a phone call away.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had over 20 years of experience in the classroom. There have been students in my classroom who have had physical disabilities, ADD, ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, and other challenges. Some showed the outward signs of their challenges, others blended in. Some were diagnosed, others were not but showed signs. Some were on medications, others were not.
I have used special accommodations such as sitting closer to the front of the classroom, extra time on tests, larger print tests, colored paper and colored tab organizers, etc. in my classroom. Some students went to speech and language teachers, additional small group, and one-on-one classes for part of the day.
I have always believed in mainstreaming /or inclusion of a special needs student into the regular education classes. One of my best friends in high school was in a wheel chair. I pushed her from our regular ed English class to her special ed class. She attended this class only part of the day. We ran into each other in college. She moved around the campus well with out the assistance of another in her new electric wheelchair. Today she is married, has her own business, and a son.
I took and passed the NTE(National Teacher's Exam) and the CBEST(California Basic Essential Skills Test). I've also taught Art and Art History Classes.
I remember when I took Art History in college. It was quite easy to appreciate the different types of art when you learn about all the meaning and symbolism within them. We took field trips to the LACM(Los Angeles County Museum of Art). It was much more interesting to see the actual art in 3D that we had been studying out of a book. The teachers that I've had made art so interesting that you could not help but appreciate it so much more afterward.
The CBEST(the California Basic Essential Skills Test) is a test with e few different parts that I had to pass in order to substitute teach. I remember that I studied for CBEST preparation class before to be better prepared. The CBEST was the longest test I'd ever taken.
Almost every school district that I've wanted to substitute teach at required proof of passage of this test.
I have worked with K-6 grades since 1990. I have a current California Clear Multiple Subjects Credential. I have been an aide, a substitute teacher, a part-time teacher, and a contracted full-time teacher in the area of K-6 grades.
I have taught ELD(English Language Development) in the K-6 classes since 1988. I obtained my first job because of my bilingual/ biliterate abilities and experiences in the early 1990's. The school district hired me on an 'Emergency Bilingual Teaching Credential' my first year of teaching. Soon thereafter I earned my California Preliminary Teaching Credential.
I have taught ESL(English as a Second Language) to adults since 2001 and participated in several workshops throughout this time.
I've directed and taught both the GED Preparation classes and the high school subjects classes from 1996 to 2006 through Ranch Santiago Community College District's Continuing Adult Education Program. We've partnered with local Orange County High School Districts to achieve the best possible outcome for the students. I continue to assist adults in obtaining their diploma in order to meet employment requirements and/or to move to a higher position/pay bracket. I discover where the student is struggling and go from there so as not to waste time. I check and recheck the student's progress. There are 5 separate GED Tests that can be taken at different times. There is also an opportunity to re-take tests not passed.
I have taken several classes on the basics of general computer literacy. I have taken these classes before and while teaching my own students the basic skills necessary to feel comfortable using the computer and educational programs, search engines, etc.
New computer information and advances are constantly changing. It's necessary to keep on top of the latest computer trend and programs no matter what our age.
I attended Catholic elementary and high schools. I have taken quite a few years of religion classes as a student.
I've also been a religious education teacher and taught K-6th grade communion and 9th grade confirmation classes. I have also been a lector for several years. I am registered with the Diocese of Orange and have a Safe Environment Training Certificate.
I have taken 8 years of Spanish classes, not including private tutoring and workshops. I received an Emergency Bilingual Teaching Credential along with my first job due to my skills. Later I taught Spanish to both children and adults. Now I can say I speak Spanish, or 'Hablo espanol!'
I have taught a high school study skills class. It is one of the most important classes to begin the year with. It's the basis to be successful in all of the other classes.
I've also been a student of study skills classes in both high school and college. These classes have helped me get through the other classes more successfully and with much more ease and confidence.
