I love teaching and tutoring so much that I can't think of anything else I'd much rather be doing. I've shared this with many of my former students year after year. "If you find a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life." -Confucious- This is exactly how I feel about what I do.

In the current state of education, many teachers are overwhelmed by their overcrowded classrooms due to continued employee cuts to balance the state's budget. If you feel your child is not getting the attention he/she is due then you have either sat inside the classroom, or have listened to your own frustrated child.

I am available to assist you and your child in getting the attention that is essential to feel confident and empowered by the learning he/she deserves. I am extremely patient, professional, and have witnessed growth and progress firsthand throughout my years. I work with all ages.

Thank you for taking the time to invest in your education. Lisa Marie G.

Art History

I took and passed the NTE(National Teacher's Exam) and the CBEST(California Basic Essential Skills Test). I've also taught Art and Art History Classes. I remember when I took Art History in college. It was quite easy to appreciate the different types of art when you learn about all the meaning and symbolism within them. We took field trips to the LACM(Los Angeles County Museum of Art). It was much more interesting to see the actual art in 3D that we had been studying out of a book. The teachers that I've had made art so interesting that you could not help but appreciate it so much more afterward.

ADHD,

ADHD

I have had over 20 years of experience in the classroom. There have been students in my classroom who have had physical disabilities, ADD, ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, and other challenges. Some showed the outward signs of their challenges, others blended in. Some were diagnosed, others were not but showed signs. Some were on medications, others were not. I have used special accommodations such as sitting closer to the front of the classroom, extra time on tests, larger print tests, colored paper and colored tab organizers, etc. in my classroom. Some students went to speech and language teachers, additional small group, and one-on-one classes for part of the day. I have always believed in mainstreaming /or inclusion of a special needs student into the regular education classes. One of my best friends in high school was in a wheel chair. I pushed her from our regular ed English class to her special ed class. She attended this class only part of the day. We ran into each other in college. She moved around the campus well with out the assistance of another in her new electric wheelchair. Today she is married, has her own business, and a son.

I continue to assist adults in obtaining their diploma in order to meet employment requirements and/or to move to a higher position/pay bracket. Great and a dependable tutor

Lisa has been tutoring my 10 year old daughter for the past 3 months. My daughter looks forward to her tutoring sessions twice awake and she loves working with Lisa. I have noticed an improvement in her self-esteem and her reading comprehension. I would recommend Lisa to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable and dependable tutor.

Absolutely love her - friendly and personable

So glad we found Lisa. She has been tutoring my father with his English vocabulary since November. His primary language is Spanish. He went from not knowing how to read nor write in English to now reading every sign he sees on the street. I am very happy to see everything he has been accomplishing. I would recommend Lisa 10 times over and over!

Gloria, 198 lessons with Lisa
Tutor responded:

Gloria, Your father is a hard worker and asks a lot of great questions. I'm very happy to work with such an inquisitive student who wants to learn more. Thank you for writing this recommendation.

Wonderful tutor!

There was no way for my stepson to finish Spanish homework and study for the finals without Lisa! Even though it was an urgent request, she made her time to come to our house to help him and he got A on his oral presentation! Thank you Lisa. You definitely helped him!

Akiko, 4 lessons with Lisa
Tutor responded:

Akiko, I am always glad to tutor students who truly make the effort to achieve their goals. Thank you for taking the time to write.

Great tutor, but we could not maintain enough students to continue with lessons.

Lisa has a great personality and is well suited for teaching Spanish. She engages students and makes learning fun. Learning a language can be difficult for seniors in our Senior Mobilehome Park so we had to terminate our lessons. Wish we could do it all over again.

David, 7 lessons with Lisa
Tutor responded:

Thank you, David. I'm here for those who prefer one-on-one tutoring.

Excellent Tutor

Lisa is very patient and works extremely well with my son in reading and writing. She really knows my son's needs and circumstances and works on it. I highly recommend Lisa!

Tony, 46 lessons with Lisa
Tutor responded:

Thank you, Tony. I look forward to working together this summer!

Excellent English Tutor

Lisa is the best tutor I've ever encountered in my whole life. I hope to continue tutoring with her when I return.

Pam, 31 lessons with Lisa

Thank you, Pam. See you when you return!
