I charge the mind to do better than it thinks it can. My name is Isaiah and I grew up in Sacramento, CA and moved to the Southern California area in 2005 to pursue an acting career. While in the process I fell in love with writing, the English language and all it had to offer. I put the acting gig behind me and focused on Creative writing and attended two local community colleges. I do have enough college credits to equal an Associates degree in English.
I was drawn to becoming a tutor because I believe that the one-on-one help greatly improves the students confidence and ability to further their skills inside and outside the classroom.
I work with 1st, 2nd and 4th graders in homework assistance, outside activities and teach them their sight words, mathematics and extra curricular studies such as science and creative writing in an after-school program.
My approach to tutoring starts off with ease, and making sure that both parties are on the same page as far as what we want to accomplish in your studies. This includes ice breakers every session, before we begin. I include some educational games to make learning a little less stressful and then dive into the core of your curriculum to really hammer out your challenging aspects of your certain subject. For me it is all about repetition and staying consistent until required material comes easy for you to understand and attain.
After all is said and done, I will be the greatest thing that has ever happened to you. With a sincere attitude and loyalty unmatched, you will wonder why you never hired me sooner. I am very flexible and find that open communication is key to a vital tutoring relationship. Please definitely consider the possibilities. I charge the mind to do better than it thinks it can. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a photographer that specializes in action sports, point-and-shoot and individual and team shots. I began my career in 2009 and have done jobs in Hollywood at the Wilshire YMCA, Bell Gardens Parks & Rec, all of Orange County YMCAs and am familiar with several sport styles and poses. I regularly work with the CANON 60D and am proficient in settings for manual outdoor shots and indoor lighting. I currently continue my endeavors and continue to learn many cool new things along the way.
