My formal foundation in English includes six years of writing short stories, formal reports and dissertations, which began in college. I have shown particular talent in grammatical accuracy since high school, where we had to recite grammatical rules and diagram sentences, showing the parts of speech and their relationships in a sentence.
Strong English communications in speech and in writing indicate the level of a person's education and their attention to detail and accuracy. Written communications riddled with spelling errors, for instance, usually disqualify a candidate for an upper level position.
In addition to several years in Education, teaching, counseling and in curriculum development, I have many years of experience as a Staffing Consultant, finding, screening and hiring the right person for a specific position for companies in technical and non-technical areas. Accurate communication verbally and in writing, is a key factor in hiring the right person, especially in management and executive levels. So my most recent experience in tutoring is with those job candidates who are challenged with English speech and writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
