Mt San Jacinto (Mathematics)
Discover how to think like a Mathematician. I have been a Math Tutor for over 4 years, working with students from Elementary School up to Graduate School. You don't have to be a natural to understand mathematical concepts. "Not a math person" is not something I believe in, because I firmly believe we are all math people who just need the right teacher to tap into our potential.
I tutor Math because I like solving problems. I like helping people solve problems. I like to see a students face light up when they finally start to "get it." But what really makes me a successful Tutor is my ability to connect with my Tutees. I'm patient, creative, and personable. My goal is always to put the Tutee in a position so they are comfortable enough to handle the problems on their own. I try to ask questions that will get my Tutees to think critically and understand concepts. My teaching style is flexible, and always catered to the individual, as we are all different learners.
As a current student pursuing a degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science, I have extensive tutoring experience in Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus.
My journey as a tutor began in 2013 when I worked at an After-School Program tutoring small groups of Elementary School students in all subjects. Watching these kids progress throughout the year into strong, confident students made me fall in love with the job. The following year I began tutoring small groups of Middle School students for the same After-School Program, this time focusing on Math. It seems as if when students hit Middle School they are no longer able to request Math homework help from their parents, therefore my services were critical.
In 2015 I began tutoring High School and College Math. I progressed to more 1 on 1 sessions in order to fully submerge my energy into the individual. It has always been important to me to prove that anybody can learn Math. Anybody can be good at Math. It just takes the right teacher to build that confidence in the student.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
