I am currently a student at Mt. San Jacinto College. I am taking classes that apply towards two different degrees. The first is Engineering which requires a lot of math. The second is Nursing, where I would take a lot of science courses. I do not have any professional experience tutoring. I am interested in tutoring because I have become one in almost every class I have taken thus far. I have the gift of explaining things in ways that people can understand. I also try to think for other people's point of view which helps me find a solution. I am a major problem solver but I also do not like to do unnecessary work. I take pride in finding shortcuts and helping others find ways to memorize things. What I love about tutoring is being able to give a person the extra boost they need to be successful in a course. Many times the reason a person does not understand material in a class is because the teaching style of the teacher and the learning style of the student do not match. I love being able to bridge the gap.
I have taken every math course up to college algebra. I received an A in every course regardless of the instructor. For college algebra, I had not taken a math course for over 6 years. I was still able to pass the class with an A. I am currently studying Pre-Calculus and will be starting Calculus soon.
I am a strong writer and I have received A's in every english course I have taken. Many of my friends and other students in my classes look to me for peer reviews and advice. I have experience editing, proofreading and also writing.
Anybody that is willing to learn and take the time can be good at math. I am willing to take the time to teach you. What are you waiting for? I am currently a student at Mt. San Jacinto College. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
