About Elizabeth

I believe the plethora of teaching experience I have had at the K-12 level, both in public and charter education, along with my experience as a grant coordinator at the Community College (CTE) level, makes me a unique asset to your working as tutor. I completed my Master of Science in Special Education in 2007 at Queens College in New York with a GPA of 3.6.

I hold two clear teaching credentials as well as credential authorizations in the State of California, these include Single Subject with CLAD, Education Specialist with Added Autism Authorization.

My educator experience includes teaching at as a Special Education RSP/SDC teacher for a continuation high school, Orange Grove. I taught science (earth and biology), history (US and world), government, and economics where I focused on meeting the behavioral and educational needs of each student in this program. I also served as the department chair for the school in special education during my time at this school.

Previously, I taught at Gateway College and Career Academy where I developed and implemented instruction in US History, World History, Economics, and American Government. My student population was made of at-risk youth who dropped out of traditional schools or were seriously credit deficient and not on target to graduate. This program affords students the opportunity to complete high school and achieve success in college within a hybrid college/high school program. I completed three years of service for the New York City Teaching Fellowship Program where I taught as a full time Special Education teacher. The program allowed me to design and develop required curriculum to include differentiation and modification for individual students. I was able to strengthen classroom management and develop the communication skills necessary to work with student with special needs.

A few of my major accomplishments at the Community College level include providing outstanding management and coordination of the Riverside Community College District CTE Transitions grant. Administration of this grant required the effective use of organizational skills to coordinate activities and articulation between K-12 districts and the local community colleges.

Not only am I able to tutor in academic subjects, but I understand not all students are University bound and the future lies in college and career patheways. I have wealth of experience throughout my years working in educational programs. I am a well-rounded and qualified educator. Ultimately, my goal is to create self-directed learners and responsible citizens. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can further contribute to your educational progress.
