I love medical science and I love to teach. I have taught at local colleges and served as clinical preceptors to RN, NP, PA and Stanford Medical Students.
I am an active clinician, and have wide range of experience from ICU, to ED and was a hospitalist...Yes, I evaluate, admit patients, prescribe, perform minor surgeries, and have served as surgical assistant to surgeons.
I offer free tweets on Twitter daily hoping to make our nursing community stronger by offering pearls of nursing.
I don't take a lot of students because I do have a full-time job. However, I do enjoy tutoring and provided that 1-to-1 attention to struggling students.
If you are struggling in nursing school or trying to pass the NCLEX, just remember: Don't give up, the beginning is always the hardest! I have been in health care for more than 20 years. I was first enrolled in a CNA course in high school, then progressed to LVN, ADN, BSN, PHN, family nurse practitioner (FNP), and am now a board certified physician assistant (PA-C).
I have a total of 13 US academic degrees: 9 associate's
For NCLEX-RN review, I use Saunder's book. For a webinar review, the rate is $40/hr since I don't have to travel or pay for gas.
I contacted Ellen regarding a project that I had to complete for nursing school. She was quick to respond to my email and very very accommodating when it came to meeting. We meet at the Fremont public library and by the end of the session she helped me understand the project and finish it. She took her time to explain why certain things would and would not happen related to the disease process. I can’t thank her enough!! If you are looking for a tutor who is committed to helping you out and quick to respond go with Ellen, you wont regret it!!
Ellen H. is a very good tutor. It was my first quarter in the nursing program and I was having a difficult time in Pathophysiology. Ellen assured me that the beginning is always the hardest and we went over fluid and electrolytes, endocrine and neuro in a couple sessions. If you have any trouble, just ask Ellen because she is able to take things that are complex and break them down so that they're simple and easy to understand. I like how Ellen is able to apply what we're learning to real life because she has lots of clinical experience. I never had a tutor before but I'm glad I reached out to Ellen because she is very supportive and I feel like I can do this! Again, I would like to thank Ellen for being an excellent tutor!
I was in nursing school studying acid/base balance when I worked with Ellen. Ellen was able to explain a very complex process in one tutoring session. She was much more knowledgeable and helpful to me than were my professors. I had to quit nursing school but plan to return next fall and I will definitely solicit help from Ellen again. Ellen clearly loves teaching and directs her students to the most important elements of nursing and consequently to passing the NCLEX exam. Ellen is also very supportive of the emotional and intellectual difficulties of the rigorous nursing program. I would highly recommend her to anyone in nursing school.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have passed both national licensure of NCLEX-PN, and NCLEX-RN in order to work as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), and a registered nurse (RN). I have retired my LVN license since I have become a registered nurse and a family nurse practitioner. A higher/next level of nursing hierarchy.
I am a triple licensed RN, FNP, and a board certified physician assistant. I have gone though pharmacology classes in LVN training, in ADN training, BSN training, and FNP and PA school. I would tally a total of near 15 units all together. Lastly, I am licensed as a mid-level provider to assess, evaluate and prescribe medications to treat medical conditions.
