Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo (Kinesiology)
Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA (Master's)
I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2001, and finished my M. A. in Theology and Biblical Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary In 2012.
I taught ESL at a local high school in Santa Maria to Chinese foreign exchange students. Over the years, my ESL students have appreciated both my rapport and my clarity in explaining difficult grammatical concepts. The CELTA program that I completed in France (through Cambridge, England) was very intensive both in teaching practice and in theory. In addition, my coursework at Fuller included preaching and teaching, also in theory and practice.
I enjoy working with people. I have also traveled a lot, and studied several languages. My background in foreign languages is helpful in understanding the students' difficulties and progression of learning. I have also studied under a number of different teaching styles, which gives me a broad range of styles to draw from. I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2001, and finished my M. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a master's of arts in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Part of my coursework included teaching, and I have facilitated many Bible studies over the years. I am also passionate about the subject, which helps me to be a better teacher.
I have a B.S. in Kinesiology. Both the science of exercise as well as the practical aspect of leading exercise classes was part of the coursework.
In addition, I am currently a paid soccer coach with USSF E License, and I myself was a semi-pro and collegiate soccer player. I also ran cross-country, and have done a great deal of weight lifting.
