Hello, and thanks so much for your interest in me. I’ve been writing since I was a kid and it has been my whole professional life: writing/producing for TV News and Magazine shows in LA- and for PBS in Seattle, writing for newspapers and magazines about travel and issues of religion and faith (New York Times, Newsweek, Coastal Living, among others), and writing/producing for interactive media.
Writing is about communicating with other people – putting words (thoughts) together so readers understand what you’d like them to know. The biggest mistake people make with writing is they think they’ve said what they are thinking, but haven’t. Somehow their thoughts didn’t make it coherently from their mind – to the printed word. So the writer knows what s/he wants to say, but not the reader. I can help you with this.
I’ve taught writing at College of San Mateo, San Francisco State, and UC Extension. I’ve also tutored writing at 826 Valencia in SF, at The Branson School’s summer program for middle school kids in Marin, and for a few private students attending Lick Wilmerding High School in SF. I also teach advanced writing to foreign students at Dominican University and have my TESOL-ESL teaching certification.
I have my MA in Journalism and my BA in Art. I worked during college at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and wrote about art for a Los Angeles newspaper. So I can tutor in Art as well as religion, and video production.
