University of Southern California (Art History, Music)
Since high school, I have engaged myself in a multitude of teaching experiences. I began as a tutor for the Advanced Placement English students for two years, where I graded many papers, prepared students for tests, engaged students in discussion, and even helped to develop lesson plans. During this time as well, I was teaching through the Youth Education Program in Elementary schools in my area. In University, I not only had the opportunity to work as an Instructional Assistant in the Art Department, where I helped students in Art labs, but I also worked at a Child Development Center with Kindergarten-aged students. Later, I had the opportunity to receive my Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certification, and was a personal tutor to two Foreign language students while studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. I then used my Certification to teach English to Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle-School students in Seoul, South Korea for a year. All of these experiences have been incomparable and very fulfilling experiences to my development as a teacher.
I have a deep-rooted fascination with everything related to the Humanities. Although I have a strong Academic background in, well, Academia - I have found that this interest has driven me in so many different directions. Although it may be difficult to describe all the different facets of life that interest me, it can best be summed up as a desire to pursue a Renaissance scholar, polymathic kind of knowledge.
I spend my downtime working at a recording studio as an Engineering Intern, and am currently teaching myself the Korean language. I enjoy a good Television show from time to time - especially those with dry witty humor.
English and Writing have always been something that come very naturally to me. Throughout my Academic background, I have been consistently praised for the work that I have produced. Not only have I shown great skill in this area personally, but it has also helped me to be able to share that knowledge with others. This aid is something that is very enjoyable for me, as I find the written language to be an extremely valuable and enjoyable skill.
I am generally available Monday, Wednesday from 10 am to 8pm, and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Teaching is a great passion of mine, and I would love to share the experience with you. I look forward to hearing from you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
