Baylor University (B.S. in Applied Math)
I am a graduate from Granada Hills Charter High School currently pursuing an Applied Mathematics and Statistics degree at Baylor University in Texas. I am going to school with the hopes of being a statistician for a Major League Baseball team. I love analyzing the sport and seeing how to incorporate math into the field! I graduated high school with a 4.3 GPA and am currently on the Dean's List at Baylor University as a sophomore with a 3.86 GPA.
When it comes to tutoring, I love helping other students learn and exceed in math! I want my students to strive to be at the top of their class. My favorite part of helping others is the feeling of accomplishment knowing I am benefiting someone else. I have helped friends and other students after school in high school, and I always put their work as my number one priority if they ask for help.
I have always had a strong fascination and passion for all levels of math because of the challenges it offers. I have not received a "B" in a math class in any of my schooling from elementary school through college. I plan on helping my students grasp a solid understanding of their math subjects while guiding them through the challenges they face. One of the common things I see when I help people with math is their fear and disgust in its difficulty. A lot of people give up on math, but I think that any person can accomplish the goals they set their mind to. I want my students, in the end, to be able to overcome the psychological struggle of students with math and succeed in their course. My course load would mainly cover the homework problems that they have in addition to occasional quizzes and practice problems so that I can see what concepts they are struggling with and understanding.
My main goal in tutoring is to ease the stress and tension of the class! I know how stressful school can get, and I do not want to make it any worse. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how much we can succeed in math! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
