Ever struggled with understanding force and potential even after spending hours upon hours reading through the textbook? Or alternatively, ever had difficulties applying your knowledge of mathematical concepts to solve problems? You're not alone. In fact, I've experienced this scenario often as a undergraduate. Both as a student, and as someone explaining concepts to a another student.

Based on my own personal experience, students studying physics and math often struggle with in these classes because they don't develop the fundamentals. This is through no fault of their own. In their rush to educate so many talented students, classes often emphasize rote problem solving over developing the intuition behind the concepts that students are expected to use. Because of this, I seek to help students develop the fundamentals behind mathematical and physical concepts in addition to building up their problem solving skills.

As a recent graduate in physics I am qualified to tutor all undergraduate physics courses as well as lower division math courses, including but not limited to calculus, differential equations and linear algebra. I can also assist with python related issues, thanks to my coursework and research experience in observational astrophysics.

Python

Python

In my physics research and coursework, Python is used extensively as a tool of data analysis and as a means of solving problems. I have used it extensively for a great many uses, from making graphical plots to providing a numerical solution for problems that are too complicated to solve by hand. In addition, I have also used Python to automate a large part of the mundane elements of my online workload. I would be happy to tutor any numerical or scientific computing related topics or answer any questions that one might have.

As a physicist, algebra is expected to be second nature to me. I make use of it in almost every problem that I work with. In my eyes, algebra provides a gateway to so much of higher mathematics as well as provides a means to understand a lot of our reality. Because of this, I would be glad to help anyone with whatever they need in their algebra classes.

Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus provides the mathematical basis for nearly all of physics. In addition to taking the typical lower division calculus classes. I've made extensive use of calculus in every one of physics classes, from classical mechanics to general relativity to quantum mechanics. Because of this, I am experienced in approaching calculus problems from a multitude of different angles and contexts. This lets me better understand how students approach their calculus problems and how to go about to solve them.
Physics,

Physics

As a graduate from a top physics program, I went through many of the same struggles that most students in the physics curriculum go through. I found that people learnt best when they were able to go through and develop the concepts together. Thanks to this, I had the opportunity to be tutored by many excellent educators and I try my best to channel their teaching style when helping students out. Physics is my favorite subject and I really enjoy discussing and tutoring others on the subject, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Precalculus

Precalculus

As a physicist, many of the topics taught in a standard precalculus course is expected to be second nature to me. I make use of it in almost every problem that I work with. As a result, I would be glad to help anyone who might be struggling with to understand precalculus related topics out.

Differential Equations

As an extension of calculus, differential equations is used quite a lot in physics. In my degree, I've made use of numerous differential equations in a great many physics classes. Because of this, I am quite proficient at solving most differential equations and other common topics in a differential equations course, such as Fourier and Laplace transforms.

Astronomy

Thanks to my degree, I had the opportunity to take numerous courses in astronomy and learn about the wonders of our universe. It was this interest that led to me pursue research opportunities in astrophysics. As of currently, I am working on developing simulations of Sgr A*, the black hole in the center of our galaxy, through the use of Athena++. I really enjoy teaching people about astronomy and would love to answer and clear up any difficulties that you might have!

During my younger years, physical science was always my favorite class and I would always dutifully pay attention no matter the topic. Overtime, this morphed into a passion for studying physics in college and it has led me to be where I am today. I am excited to do what I can to help you conquer your classroom woes and make you love physical science the way I once did!

Helpful Tutor

Raphael was very helpful and thorough during my lesson. He explained concepts clearly and made sure I understood what he said. Thank you Raphael for the great lesson!

James, 1 lesson with Raphael

great guy very humble

Very knowledgeable, very patient , he helped mec put differential equations concepts in a way it is easy to assimilate

Python Functionality Tutoring

I am new to this tutoring platform as well as Python programming to start so I was definitely nervous about getting a tutor that was patient and helped me along but allowed me to think. I found Raphael in a crunch and he agreed to assist me at the last minute even making concessions with his schedule to meet mine. I must admit he assessed my skill level and was able to bring me up to speed quickly referencing what I did kno with the nuances of Python. I was able to complete the task as needed and get them submitted with his guidance. I would definitely recommend him to anyone seeking to understand and gain some insight into programming with Python. A+
