I would like to explain to you why I would make an excellent tutor, teacher or mentor by reviewing with you my qualification and then give a brief description of my philosophy on tutoring. I have a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and an M.S. in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. I have worked in a diverse number of occupations including office work, sales and computer training. Of greatest value to the development of my ability to self-learn and to communicate that learning to others is the year long internship at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego. This is a prestigious research institution with a strong focus on the biomedical and biotechnological. There I had to learn and apply principles of organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, precalculus concepts and extreme organizational methods to keep it all straight. My specific research involved gene modification and the study of cellular models of the disease Friedreich's Ataxia.
Tutoring is, in my view, more effective and time saving than most other approaches to learning. I believe it is the job of the tutor not only to explain the material but to enable the student to have the confidence and capability to learn independently as well. To be able to crack open a book or article and sort, memorized and extract information on one's own is a profoundly important ability in school and professions at the higher end of the income spectrum. Ultimately, however, it is you, the student, whom I will tailor my tutoring approach to. My goal is to help you achieve the goals of your own that led you to seek out a tutor in the first place. I look forward to being of service! Lincoln is a great tutor, he saved me from failing calculus. He is very responsive and flexible on scheduling tutor sessions. He is good at explaining things and willing to stick with you until you have learned the material I would recommend him to anyone.
This tutor is really nice, smart, and intelligent! He helped me a lot on what I need to learn on the final and I know that because my teacher and my class reviewed the review questions that my tutor and I worked on today and I think that there was only 1 that I got wrong. Out of like the 15-16 questions there were. Thank you Lincoln!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and an M.S. in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. I completed a one year internship at The Scripps Research Institute concerning the genetic basis for the disease Freidrich's Ataxia. Knowledge of genetics was emphasized across all of these experiences.
